A boutique two-bedroom cottage with modern living areas beautifully appointed with bespoke furniture and finishes. We have lovingly assembled dramatic, full-sized, textured murals, carefully-chosen soft furnishings, and custom wall art to create a contemporary home-from-home feeling that at once invites our guests to explore the whimsical and mysterious connections with Arthur Conan Doyle’s late Victorian England. Reimagine his iconic consulting detective on a new, yet familiar case in the unspoiled beauty of our quiet Cotswolds village. The cottage theme begins in the cosy living room, where a tropical wall mural sets the tone for our botanist's retreat, complete with study desk and period microscope. Across the hall is a modern kitchen-dining area complete with solid oak kitchen chairs and sheepskin throws. Upstairs, we offer two beautiful bedrooms: a luxurious main bedroom with queen-sized bed, twin closets and ensuite shower room; and a twin bedroom with two single beds with a playful jungle theme.Merripit Cottage is nestled at the end of a private drive on the very edge of tranquil Broad Campden, with a beautiful view across the bucolic Gloucestershire countryside. We are only 15 minutes on foot from the famous market town of Chipping Campden, renowned across England for its uniquely preserved terraced high street, as well as its many local pubs and restaurants. A short drive or pleasant afternoon’s hike away stands Broadway Tower, with its breathtaking scenic views across the Vale of Evesham. The town of Broadway itself, notable for the Lygon Arms where Oliver Cromwell is thought once to have stayed during the English Civil War era, is only 12 minutes away by car; and the iconic town of Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare is only a 27-minute drive. Or why not enjoy one of the many local footpaths that criss-cross the very same green, undulating landscape that influenced J.R.R. Tolkien, and pay a visit to the Bell Inn in the local town of Moreton-in-Marsh, considered by many as the inspiration for “The Prancing Pony.”About pets:Pets allowed: dogs and cats (limit 2 total).About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 3-17.About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 18.About events:No events allowed.
"1. The location of the hotel is very good. In the center of Chipping Campden, there is a public parking lot next to it, and parking is very convenient. But be sure to pay attention to the address when navigating. There is another hotel in the same area with the same name in front of it.
2. On the day I arrived, the hotel temporarily informed me that there was something wrong with my room, so I was transferred to another higher-level hotel in the suburbs. The environment and facilities were indeed better."

Very Good
AAnonymous UserThe view from the hotel was good and the rooms were nice as you can see in the photo. I imagined an old building, but it was very clean and nice.
GGuest UserThis hotel is opposite the church. There is a doorway to the yard. There is a parking lot for the guests. Parking is free and suitable for self-driving.
The hotel room is quite big, it is an antique building, the upper second floor room needs to go up and down several different steps, not very friendly to our luggage lady.
The front desk is very polite, but be sure to check in between 8:00-18:00 and get off work when you arrive.
Breakfast is to choose the package on a table in advance and put it in the basket at the front desk. The next day, there is a waiter in the restaurant to bring you. At the same time, there is a simple self-service table, and you can also choose bread and juice. Simple but has the feeling of being served!
GGuest UserEvery person I interacted with at the Volunteer Inn was really friendly - from the young woman behind the bar who greeted me and checked me in, to the chaps in the Indian restaurant (no cooking smells in the bedrooms, as restaurant quite separate, just in case you're worried abou that!), to the lady who cooked my delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was really good - real coffee, wonderfully fresh eggs and great sausages and bacon. Lots of choice for vegetarians and those just wanting cereal too. I hadn't stayed in a b&b with a shared bathroom for years, so had been a bit worried about that aspect, but it was totally fine, as the bathroom was accessed by a key and it was only shared with one other room. I felt safe and comfortable, so that was not an issue.
Although I'm originally from Cheltenham, I had not been to Chipping Campden for decades - WOW! It's one of the most unspoiled Costwold towns I've seen, with the most thatched houses in one place I think I've ever seen! The villagers I spoke with were so very helpful and friendly (was on a quest for new tights for my evening biz meeting!) Looks like the town is directly on the Cotswold Way too, so I shall return with my daughter and have a good old yomp! Recommend very highly - the bedroom was simple, but clean and very comfy (the only reason I marked down to a 4 on cleanliness was because my little waste bin had not been emptied from the previous stay....feel a bit mean doing that but, well, it is important...)
I can't wait to go back!
