We had a very enjoyable overnight stay here. Very welcoming staff, very clean and comfortable room and an exceptional dinner. We met the chef, Junior and gave him our compliments for the delicious meal. Beautifully cooked, fresh and tasty. We are returning in May and look forward to our stay.

We stayed for 1 night on the way to the UK from SW France.. The staff were super welcoming and the room was clean and warm (it was December) - the decor is very tired and the large breakfast room/restaurant is very gloomy - grim paint colours, no background music, not a place to linger. Once the ground floor rooms have been renovated, we would stay again.

Spotlessly clean, quiet and in a fantastic area only 10 mins walk from the town. The Staff couldn't do enough either. Breakfast was ok, made by the unlimited fresh orange juice. Some areas need some basic maintenance but i loved the hotel

The staff were all exceptional, being very polite and cheerful. Breakfast was good with a good variety of continental breakfast choices. The evening meal was perfect. As a group, we were offered a standard choice. The food was top quality and plentiful. The serving staff could not be faulted. The room itself had budget style furniture. The was no safe or refrigerator but plenty of storage space. We had a ceiling light, but could find no way to use it. The wiring went across the ceiling and just disappeared. The air conditioner did not work properly our first night. I decided to have a look and saw that the filters were absolutely blocked. I cleaned them off and the air con worked great after that. We has a small balcony with a table and two chairs. However, it looked absolutely filthy and so was not used. I have still given this hotel 4 stars because of the staff and the food. The room was comfortable but needs some TLC.

Quite honestly, this hotel is very very grim. When we arrived, we actually thought we were going in at the back of the building. Outside the door was so scruffy! When we went through the doors, there were a number of staff standing around talking and I thought maybe we had gone in a back door and we were in a staff canteen! There was a low standard table with a laptop sitting on it - this was the reception desk! When we got to our room, our first impression wasn't improved. It's so grubby and badly maintained. I didn't want to put bare feet on the filthy carpet so I kept my shoes beside the bed. The bath - ugh. There really is no excuse and this isn't acceptable. Also, the balcony - filthy, and some dangerous looking cracks in the balcony wall. Also a dangerously dark corridor at night (floor 2). Time to change some lights I think! There is a swimming pool and I normally swim every day. We had our swimwear with us but one look at the pool and we decided we weren't going to use it. On the positive side - the breakfast offering was lovely and the blond lady who managed this area was super efficient at keeping all items topped up and keeping the area clean, despite having her arm in a splint. Also the air conditioning in the room worked well. All in all though - investment is very badly needed. I couldn't return if it remains in this sorry state.

My strong advice is manage your expections of this hotel , let me explain why . The photographs on the website and trip adviser date from 2012 and are not relevant nor realistic of both the exterior and interior . The rooms are small even the " updated " are below expections The balcony's are dirty and not cleaned . But there is a pool which is clean but the areas around it are not. ! Staff are great. , breakfast is good fresh orange and great loose tea Location and parking good So be aware but good value

The hotel is advertised as offering views of the Fortress so we booked a room with a view for our one night stay. The room was larger than an average Ibis and we wondered whether this hotel is in fact a re-branded Mercure???? There was a decent balcony and a view of the Fortress but the hotel is actually a brisk 15 to 20 minute walk from the centre of Chinon and the fort. The hotel is in a very pleasant residential district next to schools and sports facilities. Reception was helpful and provided a map of Chinon. Plenty of parking in the hotel grounds. We appreciated the very good hotel restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent dinner.

We stayed for two nights at the Ibis Style Hotel whilst on a coach tour. I cant fault our room, we had one with the castle view and a balcony. Perhaps the only negative was it could have been cleaner. The breakfast was excellent. Being on a coach trip, the hotel is subject to providing meals as designated by the travel company. I would sooner have been on a B& B basis, with an allowance against a meal of choice
