The room, and venue itself, was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was plenty of room for our weekend bags and hanging space for our clothes. The bathroom was also very clean and the shower pressure was good. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, particularly the young lady who served our breakfast, and the kitchen staff kindly catered for my slightly awkward breakfast request. They were also quick to check whether I was fully vegan when I requested no meat or eggs, as the other items were to be cooked in butter. I really appreciated this attention to detail. The downstairs door (below our room) clanged heavily as other guests came upstairs, but in such an old building, I'm not sure there is much that could be done to mitigate this. But because the rest of our stay was so comfortable, we felt it was not that much of a problem, especially as it didn't continue for long. The cost is higher than we'd usually like to spend, but it felt worth the money for such a pleasant stay.

The pub was very nice, with friendly staff. The meal was also very good. The room was quite basic, but comfortable specially the bed. However the bathroom tiles around the sink, and inside the mirrored cupboard where not clean splatters of toothpaste from a previous guest maybe! The sink didn’t have a plug for it, and the tap was quite loose. Our room was also above the kitchen, so the noise from the extractor was quite loud, and obviously had cooking smells in the room. Other than these minor things we had a pleasant stay.

Lost your crown Honest reviews. Carpet was overdue a vacuum. Toilet locks broken, overflowing paper bin and hand wash dispensers strewn around and not refined to the wall mountings. Very quiet in the pub at 5pm on a bank holiday easter weekend. Meal on the evening took over an hour to be served and when it arrived it was lack-lustre and bland. A whole fish which was watery and wasn’t given any proper serving cutlery - very poor. Meal was refunded and we were given an apology. We went to room number 7 and on entering came across 2 dirty cups and saucers - not the best first impression you want on entering your room. Manager apologised and took them away but also took out spoons away so we had nothing to use for our drink the next morning. Bathroom was tiny but it was clean and had a good shower. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was over cooked (and that’s being generous). Mushrooms and scrambled eggs were overdone with butter and the bacon was cooked within an inch of its life so much so my knife wouldn’t cut through it - I thought it was jerky! Coffee was so milky I could t taste coffee - sorry team but this place has gone down in our estimation. It used to be a destination for great food which was what our weekend was about but to then be told you weren’t serving lamb on Easter Sunday, we left and didn’t stay the 2ns night we had planned. You had a lot to live up to as for some years we’d visited for the food but were sadly let down this trip

Noisy rooms The room was located above the bar area, overlooking the road and car park. It was unbelievably noisy. When in your room it sounds like there are twenty people standing beside the bed all have separate conversations. Once the bar closes you can then hear other guests talking in their rooms. Noise from the car park and the road can be heard very clearly even with windows closed. We didn’t sleep and checked out at 7.30. Terrible value for money at £189. Staff are incredible and can’t fault the service. Redcat need to refurbish the dated tired rooms. The shower in the bathroom goes from hot to freezing cold every 6 seconds so rendered unusable. Won’t be returning.

Great Place to Stay Cosy character filled pub/restaurant/b &b. Stayed there a number of times. Always a warm welcome. Lovely breakfast. A particular mention for Helen who serves breakfast on a Friday morning. She is so friendly and cheerful.

Food was exceptional. Manager was attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately room cleaning left a lot of questions. Shower glass not clean smoking debris in drawers and when using plug by bedside light carpet wall and skirtings are filthy. When mentioned to manager he seemed genuinely shocked. But I have now checked other reviews and this is previously mentioned. Shower was so difficult to turn off I nearly had to call for assistance.

Beautiful building and really friendly staff. Our room was over the restaurant so very noisy but didn’t go on till late so didn’t really bother us. The bathroom could do with a tidy up. Black limescale in the toilet and bath and carpet a bit grubby. Breakfast was really good with a good choice and as much coffee and tea as you want. Overall a good visit.

I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed our stay at the Nags Head. We had a wonderful time exploring Great Missenden (very easy to walk to from the Inn) & the countryside. The train into London was so easy. Our room was peaceful and a great place to come back to after a long day. The room was quiet and a a haven to get away from it all. And the breakfasts! We tried the Full English which is certainly a treat. Definitely try the fish & chips for dinner…so good!! If you want to have a true English countryside experience, check out the Nags Head.
