My husband and I stopped here by chance and it did not disappoint. The pleasant manageress found us a table in an already full restaurant. Food was exquisite, service excellent and a great selection on Ales. A real gem in a beautiful village. Well worth a visit

Stayed at the Swan inn and visited for a drink with my wife. Totally rude staff member that let the team down. Seemed to be nice to locals but the Irish lady (who most ironically appeared to be senior) was completely rude when I ordered a drink. I have never felt less welcome in a pub ever in my life. To top it off, we paid our bill in full sight of this lady but as we got up to leave she shouted across the pub ‘have you paid’. Disgusting. If you don’t like people, find another job. Go to the Swan Inn if you’re in the area. Lovely staff all round

This place been recommended to us by our neighbour. We came for a drink and ended up having a dinner. Our food was delicious, we had a duck and skate. Staff very friendly. The only reason for 4 star review is that we felt extremely rushed despite bar wasn’t busy and table was free when we arrived. Within 10 min we have been asked by 3 different waitress if we ready to order. When we finished our meal we were asked if we would like to have a look at desert menu and we said no. At that stage my partner had full glass of his drink and my was empty however I didn’t have a chance to order my drinks as BILL arrived within 1 min since menu was taken away despite the fact we have not asked for the bill.

We booked the private room and stayed the night. The food and service were amazing. The staff went out of their way to make our evening special. I can't speak highly enough of The Crown. Our four poster room made the event. Thanks to Dan & his team

Very strange place indeed. The Crown clearly attempts to market itself as some sort of upper class dining experience - yet the service we received from the management before we even arrived was extremely below par. (No one bothered to reply when I made an enquiry about our dogs at the time of booking. An awful lot of upset could have been avoided had they done so.) And once inside the pub, that poor level of service just went from bad to worse. My mother's main course was taken away before she had finished eating it by an elderly woman who made it very obvious indeed that she didn't want us in her pub. Had it not been for the friendly and attentive young ladies who also served us - along with the very nice food - we would have walked out after that incident and refused to pay. To be honest, I still can't believe they had the audacity to charge us, bearing in mind we were also shoved out the back to finish dining in the scullery because 'other people' were so offended by our two foster dogs being with us. (See my Open Table review) An absolutely dreadful experience - for which the proprietors have shown no remorse. Unfortunately for this 'upmarket'venue, one of the people dining with us last Sunday is actually an hereditary peer. You can imagine the furore this has caused within his circles.

This is a genuinely ancient pub, with a wonderful ambience. Happily, we have been delighted to find that the cuisine is also excellent - way above the standard of even the better pubs in the area - and we have not been disappointed after several visits. Staff are friendly and attentive, all making for a very pleasant experience. Definitely the best pub that we have visited in the area!

We were invited to meet here for dinner with friends. Had a great meal but most of all enjoyed the atmosphere and admiring the heritage and old features of the building. It is a place that we would love to come and stay at one day.

Wow Down for a family wedding I know the area very well having moved away 4 years ago . I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and used the restaurant bar etc The room was airy and bright spotlessly clean with a great mattress and pillow . Bottled water tea coffee of the highest standards were supplied . The building itself is amazing and very well cared for outside and in . Breakfast a great choice of cooked and fresh fruit cereal etc plenty on the menu . What really made the stay special were the staff from housekeeping to bar and restaurant . We were treated like old friends from all and a special thanks to Louise and kiara who I can describe as brilliant . The owner of this establishment has definitely struck gold . That’s enough rambling find out for yourself. I didn’t mentioned the quality of the food it was excellent.

We were looking for a chilled couple of days away with good food/wine and The Crown Inn was perfect! Keira made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautiful, however we requested to stay in the four poster bedroom, which are located in the older part of the building. Keira arranged this for us on our second night, which was wonderful. The food was really good! Specially the lamb. Breakfast was great, Molly (blonde) was very sweet and her coffees were fab! Thank you for having us x
