Crouchers Hotel

Lots of good points, ie all the staff members were so friendly and helpful and special thanks to the housekeeping staff for extra bed changes; cooked breakfast was very good and the location and surroundings were both very good. However, our room was rather disappointing as very dark and dull and in need of updating. Only one chair. No information such as local attractions, meal times, etc. in the room. Worse thing for us was that the hotel could not offer any food from 3 pm until 7 pm on site - not even at the bar. We had wanted to have a very relaxing stay and eating at the hotel most evenings but this was not possible - a surprise for a 4 star hotel. The advertised Cider House restaurant which served food from 5.30 was not actually on site, it is a long walk over a couple of fields and much too far for my husband who has limited mobility so we had to go by car and once in the car you may as well go to other locations such as a huge choice of local pubs nearby who all offered food between 5 and 7, including the lovely Crown and Anchor Pub at Dell Quay which is only 3 mins drive away and offers a huge selection of local fish. We felt rather disappointed with Crouchers.

It was my first visit to Crouchers Hotel where I had arranged a Birthday Party Afternoon Tea for 8 ladies. The venue is lovely, really pleasant room and the staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. However, the Afternoon Tea itself did not live up to expectations. One of the most important things when having an Afternoon Tea is the clotted cream and scones. The cream was a sweetened whipped concoction, not even sure if it wasn’t from a can. There were lots of cakes but not enough sandwiches. Two of us had the gluten free option and that was pretty disappointing. Sandwiches ok, scones lovely but the cakes were supermarket cake bars. Unfortunately it did not compare well with the Afternoon Tea we have had before in a tea rooms in Bracklesham where everything was homemade, with clotted cream and for much less money. I was also a little surprised that despite giving notice that it was a very special Birthday that Crouchers didn’t do anything to acknowledge it. I know I shouldn’t expect it but it would have been a nice touch. I wouldn’t currently recommend the Afternoon Tea but I will definitely go back there for the Sundowners on the Terrace as the ambience is very good and I liked the staff. Come on Crouchers, you can do better.

Lovely hotel very pleased with the food and the service here absolutely loved the sundowners and drinks with the DJ they had on was like being abroad fantastic would definitely come back but would definitely request a room not in the loft space

We didn't stay at the hotel, but visited for Sunday lunch. It was just lovely in every way. We had the conservatory for the 8 of us, including 3 children. The food was fantastic, probably the best roast beef i've ever had. Good sized portions, a good value set menu. The children could have a smaller version of the roast within the children's menu which was fantastic (and rare in my experience as they're usually just offered chips!), the children's yorkshire pudding was enormous and my daughter was extremely pleased! We would definitely return, I can't speak highly enough of the staff, the service and the food. Thank you.

Beautiful hotel, with beautiful grounds. Really enjoyed our stay we had a dog friendly room which had its own private patio. The food was lovely, although not a big choice if you’re vegetarian. Only maybe 1 thing on their evening menu so you couldn’t eat there 2 nights in a row or you’d be eating the Same thing. The pizza place was also lovely just a short 5 minute walk away. Probably one of the best pizzas we’ve had. Room was nice and clean. No dog bed was in the room we had to ask for one.which wasn’t a problem. They delivered one to our room very quickly . There was a coffee machine in the room, which was handy.I would suggest you ask for a room where there’s no rooms above you as we got woken up by people above around 5am walking about. Breakfast on both mornings was lovely .Friendly staff all in all a lovely stay.

You never bothered contacting me despite my various messages and you refused to hold my booking over as we could not guarantee getting home. I did not ask for a refund just a stay of execution. I called today and your member of staff was pretty dismissive said I should have booked direct. I think this level of customer service is deplorable in this day and age.

Amazing breakfast freshly cooked. Prosciutto, spinich and eggs on toasted sourdough. Along with fresh fruit salad, granola, cloudy fresh apple juice & freshly squeezed orange juice. Delicious Room v comfortable & cosy with lovely bathroom

The room was very musty with a strange smell, and was so uncomfortably hot at night that we needed the fan on, which in doing so made it too noisy to sleep. I’d expected air conditioning in my room as standard. To have paid £165 (without breakfast) for a night stay, I’ve left feeling tired and not relaxed.

Went here for a lunch organised by family, we had never been before. We ate in the main restaurant. We had Caesar Salads and chicken burgers. with 4 of us having the affogato for desert. Very stylish place, good service and excellent food, we will be back!
