"Good, good, good, good, good. Good location. Good service. Convenient.
It's just that the water is a bit small, but everything else is good. There's a coffee bar, a bar, and a restaurant downstairs where you can eat, which is very convenient."
"I had booked a last minute trip to Chicago's Virgin Hotel to spend some time with my daughters. From the first minute we walked in the service was impeccable. This continued throughout our stay everytime we walked in or out of the hotel (many times). The location was perfect to shops, restaurants, Riverwalk, beautiful architecture, and many other visual attractions.
The only downfall to our visit was it was Covid season and many restrictions to places we could go to watch the football game and/or eat as the restaurants were all closed in the hotel. That was a safety issue for the guests so it was appreciated they weren't open. The one thing I'd recommend is for them to have a list of what was open nearby and what was offered (dine-in, delivery, take out, etc.). We were able to find places on our own, but it would have saved us the time from searching/calling around.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel!!"

"1. Facilities and Equipment
The hotel facilities and equipment are modern, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the facilities are complete. The overall design is classic and updated with modern facilities.
2. Location
The hotel is in an excellent location, located in the city center."
"The booking interface shows that the store payment is $61.29, but the actual credit card settlement is $142.16! I don't know what the fee is, and I don't speak foreign languages well, so I can't understand it! But the overall feeling is good! It is zero distance from the Weftec venue, the first floor is accessible, and there are sofas on the first floor to rest! There is a paid breakfast on the first floor, and there are waiters who speak Chinese!"
"I am a guest of your's. I am very happy here. I sing highly of your service. First of all, the hotel is so beautiful. It looks like a garden. I enjoy it. Then, foods are delicious and some of them are amazing. Most important reason is that the bed is so big and soft that I don't want to get up every morning. It's wonderful here. I can't believe it that I must leave. I want to live here again if I come to this city again.Thank you.Sincerely yours a guest."
"Pretty good spot if you’re there for a short bit. Just know your roommates are at the hostel’s discretion if you’re in a group of 3 or less in a quad room."
"The Drake is a wonderful hotel with tons of charm. The staff was always very friendly and helpful providing tips for getting a bus card or an umbrella when it was raining. It was a wonderful location, not far from the metro and very close to the bus stop I needed to get to my conference. It’s also right next to the water. "
"The location can't be faulted, not on Michigan Avenue, but right next to the Avenue. Surrounded by shopping malls and luxury stores. Shopping and eating are very convenient.
The girl has reserved dinner on the 65th floor of the John Hancock Building
6 minutes on foot.
The environment and sanitation are the standards that old hotels should have. The rooms are very large
Both shower and bathtub
Washstand Double Desk
Especially to praise the housekeeping
We stayed for two days, so the toiletries and cosmetics were randomly placed on the sink, and the service staff helped to arrange them neatly one by one, and put white napkins under them
Even the charging cord is rolled up neatly"
"Great location in the city centre. Clean and spacious room with an amazing view (34th floor). Free Wi-Fi in the lobby and in the room only if part of the loyalty program."

GGuest UserWe stayed here on a 2 day vacation after getting married (not the honeymoon). We were on the 7th floor so we thought it would be rather quiet, or, at least, not too much ambient noise from outside. We were wrong. We heard cars, sirens and utility trucks like they were right outside our window. We heard the elevator ding every time someone called for one. The walls (exterior and interior) must be very thin compared to every other hotel we've been to.
We ordered Chinese from a nearby restaurant and it was very good, but we had way more than we could finish. Opened up the fridge and it was turned off! We turned it on high and it never got very cold. We probably should have called the front desk, but instead we told them on the way out.
The ice machine was broken on our floor and the vending machine would not take credit cards. The rooms are dated. The bathroom lights are very bright and only one switch for all of them. When going to the bathroom in the middle of the night you are blinded. This is ridiculous. There should be a way of illuminating in at least 2 stages or at least don't install concert lighting.
The staff were not friendly nor inviting. The pillows and sheets were nice, but the bet was very uncomfortable.
All in all I would never stay here again and wish I had seen a review like this when I researched area hotels.

MMeghan WielebskiGreat price point! Traveled last minute with my daughter for a college visit. Room was fine except for the fan/ heating unit kept making a loud clacking noise every time it turned on. I appreciated that the hotel gave us a room away from the elevator. Great water pressure, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Parking nearby was quite pricey even with the hotel discount.

SsknoseyThe free breakfast is not a full buffet but a choice of egg and then usually fried potato and beefburger patty or slices of sausage. the rest was tiny yoghurt and bread for toast, or make your own waffles. there is tea coffee and hot chocolate. There was cereal and porridge but sometimes it is made so thin that its not worth eating.
There is no tea in the room, just coffee. The machine had a disposable tray but they ran out so I used the same one for 9 days for tea and coffee (i got teabags from the breakfast room). Housekeeping never supplied what you asked for first time, or even second. If you want something and ask at 2pm, you will get it if you chase a couple of times afterwards by 9-10pm.
There was also alot of messing about with respect to check out time. I am a member of the loyalty programme which is meant to give you an automatic late checkout. The manager gave it to me but then when I went back to ask about extending it further for a fee, it was clear the other guy behind the counter was on a power trip and the day before started saying I shouldnt have got it and as it was the manager, he wouldnt withdraw it but he could and I should only get an hour and be charged $25/hr after that etc. He was just a mean spiteful man who saw an opportunity to cause worry and distress and he did it. I had luggage to store and it was a late flight so I had to know whether to pack to store it to check out at midday, or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (they were messing me about with all times) but this is why I gave a 1 star for service. It is not at all professional but childish and spiteful. I had arranged the extended checkout days before and the day before they were messing me about when I had to pack and had a schedule of things to do? The worst service in any hotel I have ever been in. Hilton is no longer a 5 star experience it seems. 1 star for service.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a good location, next to Millennium Park, and the rooms facing the park have a wide view. There is a supermarket and a restaurant downstairs, which is quite convenient. The room is average, large in size, but the facilities are relatively old.
However, the hotel has no swimming pool, only a gym, and no breakfast restaurant. These two points are deducted, which also surprised me a little, thinking that these two items should be standard for luxury hotels.
I booked a room with breakfast, because there is no restaurant, and I can only eat by delivering the meal to the room. But the hotel breakfast rules are unreasonable. Although there is a breakfast limit of 31 dollars per person per day (corresponding to the breakfast set of 30-31 dollars on the menu). But this limit does not include the delivery fee, service fee, and tax. It means that you have to pay 30 dollars out of your pocket to have a normal breakfast.
When checking out, after reporting the unreasonable policy to the hotel, the hotel promised to waive this part of the fee in the bill, but the bill received after arriving at the airport showed that the full breakfast fee was charged (including the price of the set itself), nearly 100 dollars per day. Finally, through the continuous communication between Ctrip and the agent, this part of the fee was refunded. The result is good, but the process is tortuous.

GGuest UserWe booked a room that unfortunately was for the wrong dates through a third party. We were told by the third party that they would refund us but that the hotel had to release our reservation. We called them immediately after realizing the dates were wrong which was within an hour. The reservation was for two days from then. The hotel said they would not cancel it. They charged us almost $600 for a room we did not stay in and called in advance to explain our situation. They also did not allow for us to change the days to the days we were actually looking for. While the hotel is lovely and the staff was pleasant even delivering the bad news I won’t be looking to book with them again.

Pros
1. As a Chicago marathon runner, the location outweighs all the cons. The hotel is just opposite to the starting and end points of marathon route
2. Offer late check out for marathon runner to 2pm
3. Close to some famous tourist spots such as cloud gate (the bean), route66 starting point, ..etc
4. Complimentary bottle water, the only hotel we were staying in USA Offered this service
5. 10 mins walk to nearby subway station
Cons
1. Aged, some in-room facilities even were loosen and not fixed tightly, for example water tap
2. Nearby not much eateries to choose
3. I have fully paid the room rate online before arrival, but the hotel still charged me the same amount while we were checking in, I made an enquiry to the hotel and they replied it was due to their computer error, crazy and nothing to say!

GGuest UserThere is a bus to the airport. The service is good. I checked in early. Later, the plane arrived at 6:00, and the front desk delayed check-out until 3:00. The service is heart-warming, and it is also a good choice for airport transit

GGuest UserI was told when I booked the hotel through trip.com that I would have to pay $69 when I got to hotel I already paid $143. When I got to that hotel they told me that they did not honor what trip.com put as me Oweing $69 that I would have to pay another $139 double what I was told that I had to pay to hotel when I got there. Very misleading. Did not see the point of even looking through trip.com I ended up paying full price for the room just as if I would have booked directly to the hotel.
GGuest UserMy Honest Experience After Reading Negative Reviews
I was initially quite hesitant to check into this hotel after reading a number of detailed and lengthy negative reviews, especially those highlighting hidden fees and cleanliness issues. However, upon arrival with my partner, I was pleasantly surprised.
The hotel was clean and well-decorated, with a modern and cohesive style. Our check-in process was fast and efficient, and the receptionist was friendly and happy to answer all of our questions—especially about the fees mentioned on the hotel’s website.
One of the main issues people seem to bring up is the so-called “hidden” fees. In my experience, these fees are not actually hidden—they’re listed on the hotel’s official website. That said, they could definitely be communicated more clearly. It’s important to read the fine print when booking and during check-in. While the fees may not be obvious at first glance, the hotel is legally allowed to include them since they are technically disclosed.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, with enough space to hang clothes. There were multiple hangers, and the locker-style closets matched the hotel’s sporty decor. The floor and bathroom were clean overall, though I did spot a spider in the corner of the shower—but nothing alarming.
The downstairs common area includes an open kitchen with a communal fridge and even a crockpot, which was a nice surprise. There were also several games available, like ping pong and air hockey, which makes this place family- and couple-friendly.
Guests are allowed to enjoy drinks provided in the kitchen. If you’re sensitive to noise, particularly trains, I recommend requesting a room farther down the hall on the first floor. Our room was in a quiet spot—I barely noticed the train, and when I did, it was more like soft white noise. Still, bringing earplugs might help if you’re a light sleeper.
Overall, I recommend this hotel. It’s in a nice area, the decor is visually appealing, and the stay was enjoyable. Just be aware of a $120 refundable deposit (if no damage is done to the room) and an additional $50 guest fee. Knowing that ahead of time helps avoid surprises.
I’m very grateful for the pleasant stay and would return again.
