If you like nature and wildlife, you can relax here.
Deer and monkeys live near the hotel, and lions are kept in a remote area, which you can see up close. The grounds are spacious, and you can participate in game drives at a low cost, where you can see zebras, warthogs, and impalas.

This was an amazing place to stay. we had one of the little chalet villas and they are so spacious. largest bathroom in most of my travels. you had a bathtub and a separate shower area, little patio door that opened to an area that you could sit out with a table and a couple chairs, also a living room with sofa in a couple chairs. the restaurant doesn't have a order off the menu type thing - more of a buffet service for breakfast lunch and dinner. they offered jazz on Saturday however we did not take that in. they have a local massage person that comes to the property and my daughter and I did each do massages and that was really good. the pool was slightly cool but it was definitely refreshing in the warm afternoons. while we were sitting in relaxing by the pool some Monkeys came around climbing on the fence and getting a drink out of the pool. there were some bushbuck that would basically greet us every morning at the breakfast area. we took the safari game ride twice and saw a couple different animals each time, not as many as we would like but it still was fun. as far as the staff and service, it's as great as any five star place I've stayed at. there felt like there was a couple staff for each guest there it was very amazing.

We only stayed for one night at this fantastic lodge and wish we’d had a bit longer to relax here. The hotel had excellent communication in the lead up to our visit and due to my Bonvoy Platinum status, we got upgraded to a chalet with a deck overlooking the game reserve where impalas and kudus would wander close by. The service was excellent and they have clearly been very well trained in customer service and attention to detail. I felt appreciated as a Platinum status member and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The dinner menu was varied and also included some Zambian specialities which we were very happy to try. Jenny the general manager introduced herself and made us feel very welcome in the hotel. In the morning after an excellent breakfast, we did a game drive in the reserve and saw a huge range of animals including zebras, warthogs, impalas, pukus, sable antelopes, tsessebes and more all inside the grounds of the hotel lodge. The hotel were also kind enough to organise our transport from the airport and inwards to our next hotel. Thank you for an excellent stay.

Loved the Jazz night. Didnt like the shower drainage system as water was clogged.

Absolutely love this place. A group of us, six adult family members, stayed in 3 chalets and had a fantastic time. The food was wonderful and the service, especially from John and Saviour was top class - so helpful and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves so much that went back for the Sunday lunch buffet the following Sunday!

We so enjoyed our stay in this stunning hotel safari lodge! Our lodge was beautiful, tucked away , very clean and comfortable. The area is vast and there are so many animals to watch! We loved sitting by the lake covered with lilies watching all kind of wildlife coming for a drink! All the staffs were kind , smiling and attentive. We would very much recommend it and hope to be back for longer next time.

The lunch and service at Protea on this day was pathetic. It took 20 minutes to get food from the buffet table and another 20 minutes to get dessert. The food was so generic and uninspiring. The cake at the dessert table was cut into thin slices thinner than a slice of bread and you were not allowed to get more than one slice. The custard was flat and tasteless. On the overall the quality of cooking has deteriorated and I would not recommend anyone to eat from this place. Its creepy. There's no value for money eating at Protea Chisamba.

I want to start this review off by saying the staff at this hotel are lovely. They go the extra mile are friendly, helpful and professional. As a family paying full rate to stay at this hotel we were utterly appalled that for 5 dollars you could come in as a day visitors by the hundreds and that is what happened every day. We were driven from the swimming pool by all these day visitors taking over and swimming in their clothes, playing extremely loud music, in fact they took over the hotel and made the whole experience extremely unpleasnt. It is insulting to those of us who paid nearly 250 US dollars to be there per day. A very quick way to ruin your hotel. That along with sewerage all over the grounds. I would not touch this hotel with a barge pole. Shameful.
