The location is convenient, close to transportation and amenities. The host is friendly and helpful. However, no free breakfast is offered, and the breakfast quality did not meet expectations.

We recently stayed here for an overnight visit to Chester and booked a triple room for £135. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet our expectations. The room was far too small for three beds, making it difficult to move around comfortably. The bathroom was also poorly designed—the door couldn’t fully open due to the layout, and the shower was so tiny that my partner, who is over 6ft, couldn’t fit inside properly. Our two friends had separate rooms, which were even smaller, with barely any space to store luggage or move around. There was no proper storage, making it feel very cramped. The room had a small desktop-sized fridge, which was practically useless as it couldn’t fit much inside. The tea, coffee, and sugar provided looked like they had been sitting there for ages—our room only had brown sugar, and our friends’ room didn’t even have any coffee. Breakfast was not included in the price and had to be paid for separately. Given the cost of the stay, we expected more. In hindsight, for the same price, we could have booked a larger, more comfortable hotel with breakfast included. The overall experience was disappointing. While I appreciate independent hotels, B&Bs and AirB&Bs, this one felt overpriced for what it offered. I’ve stayed in a few other independent hotels in Chester, and unfortunately, this is one I won’t be returning to.

I don’t often write reviews but I feel this one is necessary for many reasons! Two of our party had ELECTRIC SHOCKS in this B&B from faulty wall sockets!!! We had 4 rooms booked and all of them were unsuitable/unsafe. Damp bedding, damp walls, mould, dirty towels and bedding, uncomfortable beds, door handles falling off, sockets hanging off the walls. On arrival we were given the incorrect code for the door so we were left 20 minutes unable to access the room. The owner’s attitude is very unprofessional. When speaking to me (over the phone as she wasn’t actually in the b&b), she was rude and spoke to me as though I was a child. She reminded me numerous times to “be quiet” when coming back to the rooms. We felt as though we were an inconvenience. The owner enters your rooms when you are not there. When I questioned her about this I was told that she entered to turn the lights off. I’m not sure if this is even legal??? I do not recommend staying here as it is extremely unsafe. There is nothing “luxurious” about this B&B unfortunately which is a shame because with the correct care, attention and attitude it could be a lovely place to stay in a good location!

Owner is shocking to deal with. We felt like we were an inconvenience to her as when we arrived she was just moaning about being late to her nail appointment. We tried to have a little laugh with her but clearly didn’t want to be there with us. Took £100 deposit which I didn’t think was allowed. Said would pay it back the next day at 1. Money didn’t arrive until 16:37 after me chasing. The texts I have had off her are so unprofessional. Place looks terrible compared to the pictures. Toilet seat is minging, room is tiny and mattress is terrible. I wouldn’t recommend staying.. The owner clearly thinks she is better than anyone and speaks to them in this way.

No reception. Key fob with long list of instructions to gain entry to building and room. Nightmare as trying to read it all in pouring rain with 5 other guests trying to gain entry too. Had to call owner who arrived and didn't seem too impressed to be called out !! We had a family room for 3 adults. Only 2 bath towels supplied. Shower .. black mould in between tiles. Stains on bed sheet and quilt !! Noisy road. Would not recommend or return unfortunately 😕

I booked late in the day which may explain some problems and I didnt look at these reviews which I should have done. Its not a hotel its a guest house, an airBNB or B&B without breakfast. Entry through remote door pads was all handled well, room is very small and decoration is not going to appeal to minimalists. Communications were OK even thgough Claire was not there. The bathroom was not modern and not pristine and the extractor fan screamed /screached / squeaked so loudly I decided not to put the light on again. Anyway I had to go out for an evening meal in a hurry. The worst feature was there was no hot water that evening and during the night the room was very cold and still no hot water in the morning. I can only assume Clair forgot to turn them both on. When I asked about that in the morning she just texted "I noticed it wasn't on". No apology. The basin plug stuck down so the cold water couldnt be emptied anyway. I would not stay there again.

A friend and I stayed at MC as it is situated close to Chester town centre. Location is brilliant. We found our room as there were no staff on site. Electronic keypad entry. We walked into the room and it was tiny. 2x single beds, I think we're 2 foot 6, a small unit acting as a bedside table and coffee spot. If one of us stood up the other had to remain on the bed or in the bathroom. This made it impossible to do anything but sit or lay on the bed. We had no choice but to go out and stay out. There was no wardrobe, but a set of hooks with an ability to have coat hangers. The shower room was okay, with shower gel and shampoo, clothing hooks and towel rail/warmer. The room looked to have been recently redecorated. So it was nicely presented. It was warm enough. But it was a mild weekend. The beds were okay, I like a firm bed and these were not firm enough for me, but that's just my preference. I was under the impression it was bed and breakfast, but the breakfast was extra, the 3 minute walk to wetherspoons sorted breakfast out. Overall, it was clean, bright and very convenient. However, it is unlikely I will stay there again as we found many more places we could stay in as close to the town centre as MC.

On May 27, 2023, we made a reservation at Maison Claire for a triple room and a twin room. We chose this location due to its proximity to a venue and to avoid the hassle of ordering taxis. However, our plans took an unexpected turn when my mother fell ill. I inquired about the hotel's dog-friendly policy on July 12 and again on July 26. Maison Claire responded on July 29 with two messages: one stating I had a twin room (which was odd) and another confirming they were not dog-friendly. As the date approached, my eldest daughter decided to stay behind. On August 5, Claire contacted us to provide parking details. On August 12, they attempted to charge the booking amount, encountering issues. Claire reached out via text, and despite my daughter's explanations that we were en route, the texts persisted. Even though she explained I was driving. It felt odd. Claire asked for A bank transfer and wanted our card details. We ignored that as it was contra to booking.coms Eventually, the payment went through after my daughter updated the card. Upon arrival, we discovered the twin room was located in an insecure courtyard at the back, and my daughter didn't feel safe staying there. The courtyard even had a car and laundry, unlike the pictures depicted. The room, while looking nice initially, was small, with peculiar features like a hanging rail above the kettle. The shower temperature was inconsistent, taking around ten seconds to adjust, causing my husband to burn himself. My complaint to Claire was met with a dismissive "Shower is fine." The room had mold around the toilet, peeling tiles on old tiles, a damp wooden shelf, and a non-functioning vent. The window frames were filthy, and there was even hair in the bed. The single bed's headboard was broken, and the flat TV over the bed protruded dangerously with dangling cables. The divan base was old which caused the mattress to keep shifting off. I conveyed all these issues in a text, as Claire proved to be an unaccommodating host, starting from the shower incident. During a gig in Chester, I received texts about issues continuing to arise. The following Sunday morning, scaffolding work began at 7:30. Claire accused me of lying until I sent her photos. The contractor confirmed he had advised against renting rooms due to the Sunday morning construction noise. The situation was comical. The contractors handling the situation were pleasant. I even have a recording of Claire's rant, although I won't share the details to respect her privacy. Let just say it was unpleasant and disturbing. In conclusion, I strongly advise against booking this hotel, as it provided an unpleasant and unclean experience, both physically and emotionally.

I’ve been wanting to visit this B&B for a while as it does look nice from the outside. An opportunity came to visit our daughter is at uni and therefore we booked to visit the Xmas markets. Yes £120 is one of the cheaper rooms available at Xmas time in Chester but I just don’t think that should mean less is expected. 1* star given for location and convenience 1* star given for cleanliness Additional 1* star given for it being the cheapest room available However I have deducted 1 star for the tiredness of the room( paper coming off ceiling, paintwork tired, door to bathroom poor, mirror light in bathroom doesn’t work, grouting in bathroom needs completely re-doing as mouldy, shower pressure poor, only 2 plugs available and mattress not good enough quality and creaky ) Additional 1 star deducted for accessibility to hotel and room. The coded doors clearly cause issues for most. A simple key system would be better and a local apartment complex uses this system very effectively. I also prefer a B&B where the owner is in attendance, maybe that’s just me. Anyhow this B&B is sufficient. Just don’t have high expectations
