We planned on staying there but then chose a different hotel but did go for gastronomic lunch. Oh was I glad indeed that we did not stay. The property sits right on the road and is tiny so for those who prefer spacious areas please look further. On our entry we were greeted with a women who was I belive a Manager. There was no smile, no anything, just "Name". I felt as if checking into jail. Then she couldn't find our lunch reservation for 4 even though I had the screenshot of confirmed reservation by them. She gave the worst attitude and told me to go speak to Hotel Réception. Who found my reservation right away. With further negativity she seated us to a small room that smelled like fish market mixed with chlorine. Horrible smell in the restaurant! Throughout, the service was mediocre and when I asked for recommendation I was told smth along the lines of what do you want to know, it all depends what you like. Of course it does but it's not how you provide walk through the menu for the guest. At the end I squeezed a fish description off her that one is more mild flavour vs another stronger. That's about it. The food was nothing outstanding and I was very glad when we left. Out of 3 weeks our trip in France it was hands down THE Worst experience on all levels.

We changed rooms three times on arrival- from one shabby room to another. The hotel needs a really good refurbishment - mould on the bathroom walls etc. I have no idea how they can claim 5 stars . It's barely worth 3 stars. Staff are grumpy and sullen . Simple requests - could we see the menu as we take drinks on the patio are met with a NON! You can see the menu at your table. The bistro is just the bar area. food very mediocre . Seriously overpriced and poor quality.

This is a wonderful hotel, with a small, intimate, countryside feel, and staffed by friendly, passionate people. Our welcome by Isabel was wonderful, and she'd personally taken care of my request to reserve a car parking spot within the gates of the hotel (since we had a carload of stuff). Room 410 was beautiful, and decorated with well-chosen, interesting furnishings. It was well-laid out, with plenty of storage space and a nice comfortable bed. There was a problem in the shower in that the controls could not turn down the temperature when the shower was operating. I meant to report this as we left, but forgot. Dinner was superb, as was breakfast the following morning. These days so many hotels lack the sort of old school charm that envelops you in this establishment, and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Sadly we were only passing through on this occasion, but the hotel is on the list for a return visit.

After we visited Chenonceau castle we wondered if we would be able to eat. In France it is almost impossible to eat after 2:00 pm except for quick food!! We called the Auberge and they said that they were happy to have us. The place is beautiful, spotless and the staff courteous and professional. The food was inventive, delicious and healthy. Definitely worth a visit

Restaurant only: very disappointing, especially as we have been before and really loved it a few years ago The service is really lacking finesse and speed (4 hrs for a 3 service menu?!) The food is un-original and not well seasoned (unforgivable for a chef that used to have a star rating!) The veggie menu one of us had was very poor; The main dish of our main menu, was poorly prepared and lacked any sort of complexity in tastes. The dessert was a saving grace and clearly the dessert chef maintains a high standard unlike any of her/his colleagues Price most certainly does not match quality and given the wonderful location, the great setting and lovely terrace, this is even more a disappointment. Major overhaul needed on the food!

Charming small hotel. Lovely accommodating staff, fantastic food and wine in both the bistro and restaurant, spotlessly clean, supremely comfortable beds. Situated in the middle of the village within very easy walking distance of the Château. Lovely private outdoor pool and gardens. We will most definitely return. Many thanks to all the team

This is what a quality hotel should feel like! We are still here but I'm writing this while I think about it. From the moment we checked in, the staff were courteous friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Graciana, Candice and Vishnal particularly but the sommelier was also great. ( We didn't know the names of others but EVERYONE is super friendly and helpful. We stayed in a privilege room, ground floor with a bath, separate walk in shower and separate toilet. The bed is 2m across which suits us , and outside is a courtyard area to service the rooms in the annexe. We had pre dinner drinks in the MAIN courtyard in delightful 24 degree early evening sun, and then had the gastronomic menu in the main restaurant. We may never eat again! We are so full but in addition to the 6 listed courses, there were amuse bouches, between courses soup, pre dessert dessert and as many hVe mentioned, the infamous drunken cherries that go with the coffee etc... other reviewers have forgotten to mention the mii florentines, mango jellies, nougat and chocolate truffles that also can accompany that! The food was magnificent, the service impeccable and the rooms are stunning. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in! And when we staggered back to the room, we found biscuits and chocolate waiting for us too! I think they will keep until tomorrow! Just superb stay. Well done to everyone who works there- you made our night!

This is a delightful and very comfortable place to stay, and importantly for American visitors, it has air conditioning that works. The gardens, facilities and parking are great, and it is quiet. I would have given it 5 stars , but for being left on the patio waiting for dinner service for a long time, only to be told that there was no dinner service on the patio. Just a misunderstanding, but overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to stay there again some day.

Historic hotel with absolutely charming property. Nice location in the center of Chenonceaux and a short walk to the beautiful Chateu Chenonceau. Swimming pool is a nice bonus in the summer. Dining on the patio on a nice summer evening a pleasant experience, though the food on the bistro side not quite perfect.
