Overall I had a good experience. The bed is a bit hard because the mattress is very thin, although I realize that this is a standard in China, as it was in many hostels. The hostel is generally clean, but the bathroom is a little smelly, and squat is the only option. The shower is very good, and the water has good pressure. They provide shampoo and body wash but no toilet paper. The hostel has some common areas with tables, chairs and sofas, and it’s very spacious and comfortable. Facilities such as a microwave, refrigerator and kettle are available.
Laundry is available for 5 yuan per machine and there is a great covered outdoor area to dry clothes and there's also a dryer for 3 yuan, if you prefer. The Wi-Fi works very well in the common areas, but it didn't work on my bed. The air conditioning remote control is at the reception, so we have to ask them if we want to turn it on/off or change the temperature. It’s not very convenient.
The staff are super helpful, despite their basic English, we communicated well through WeChat. I asked for help regarding tourist attractions and trains and they answered promptly. There are many restaurants, markets and convenience stores nearby. The location is good, walking distance to the metro or bus stop. It’s also easy to cycle to/from the closest metro station.
