Excellent and friendly staff, comfy rooms, good food and fabulous grounds. Used as a base for more adventurous walking in the surrounding area, this mini break was as good a dose of well being anyone could ask for. We will surely come again soon.

We had the most magical weekend here with our wedding being held in the treehouse at the Fox & Hounds. Despite the weather being a challenge the staff here did everything we could have wished for to make our event a wonderful and memorable occasion. Our guests all stayed in the hotel and we had a lovely meal on the Friday night, the food was all very good and enjoyed by all. Our wedding on the Saturday was held in the treehouse which we had decorated and we had a BBQ in the grounds and ate overlooking the lake then partied in the treehouse in the evening. A special mention for Tom the general manager who looked after proceedings and the bride and really helped to make the perfect wedding. For a small intimate wedding venue in a lovely rural location we could not have asked for more and will be visiting many times in the years to come. A big thank you from Steve & Kathy Bakmand.

Love staying in this relaxed Country House Hotel in a pretty valley easily found just off the A377. Rooms are big and airy and the staff are soooo friendly and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better the kitchen upped the game with a new menu. Beyond delicious! We’ll be back!

This is the first truly dog friendly hotel i have ever stayed in. There was no segregation when eating (tables are a good distance from each other), and they can go with you where ever you go. The 6 acre grounds are fantastic to walk the dogs in and as for the food - it was out of this world.

Decided to visit for one night with our two year old cocker spaniel and this hotel sounded perfect for us. Easy to park and a warm welcome from Tom in reception to both us and our fluffy companion. Hotel inside was lovely and warm. We were allocated room 16 which was a family/superior room. It’s an old hotel sounded perfect expect floor boards to creak here and there. The room was very large with two separate bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The main bedroom had a four poster bed, while the second was a sofa bed. The sofa bed was quite badly marked in places - which didn’t bother us as we had the pooch but would have been unpleasant if being used by an other person. The walls had quite a few marks on them in places but we appreciate its an old hotel though a bit of paint would have easily covered these. The room looked out over the rear of the hotel and the gardens. Thankfully the sash windows open a decent amount as the old steel radiators pump out an incredible amount of heat. We were able to turn them off but no one can say this isn’t a warm cozy hotel! The bed was comfy and generally it was quiet at night. We ate in the restaurant that evening and again the staff were very welcoming to us and our four legged friend. The restaurant area was lovely with a log fire going and a nice atmosphere. The food really surprised us though - it was very good quality and extremely tasty. We throughly enjoyed our meal. Prices for food and drink were thought were very reasonable. Breakfast the next morning was equally as nice with a decent hot buffet selection, cereals, toasts and pastries. In this hotel dogs are welcome anywhere with their human partners so there were no concerns about taking them into an area they shouldn’t be. The gardens at the rear were nice with a large dog exercising area at the very bottom. Overall we had a lovely stay and will definitely come back again with our pooch. If the hotel can tidy up a few of the minor niggles in the room then we would be happy to give it 5 out of 5. The staff here are all excellent, and it’s a very welcoming hotel for humans and pooches alike.

Mixed feelings . Hotel is dog friendly, but still is extremely clean, both the downstairs areas, corridor and room. Staff are cheerful and helpful. We were on a B and B package (we upgraded the room, as we were advised that package included a cosy room), room was large and the bedding was good. The bathroom has a shower over the bath that was easy to use. The hotel as a whole was a little dated. No provision for somewhere to put your own toiletries but was supplied with hand wash and body lotion at sink and shampoo and shower gel in bath. Breakfast good, small buffet and the ability to order different eggs Evening meal was pricey and the menu limited, didn't explain the meals very well , forgot to mention lentils on the main I had. Food was generally good. Hotel is lacking in sitting areas. Weather was poor for our stay and the lack of seating made it difficult for us to socialise with our travelling companions. There are extensive gardens but as the weather was poor can't comment on them. Hotel is quite remote but on the plus side has plenty of parking. Would I return probably not,

Very friendly , relaxed hotel. From Checking in to checking out, the staff were happy to help and made a big fuss of our two dogs. The rooms ( and we were lucky to get an upgrade) were light and airy with a comftable bed. Well stocked bar that has local Ale and cider. No review of this hotel should miss the restaurant... The hotel maybe rated 3 stars, but the food is far from that! Local produce cooked well, the usual favourites and then some stunning unusual dishes. Our dogs did not want to leave, and I have to say, neither did we.
