Firstly let me start by saying that as a group of friends we enjoyed our stay at this bijou hotel, the main building decor was clean and presentable and the staff we encountered were all very friendly and welcoming and the location in the village is handy for the other local pubs/restaurants and good for visiting Ely and Cambridge. And if you like a game of snooker, then the Joe Perry snooker club is no more than two hundred yards away. Secondly I would like to say that the next comments have been passed on to the hotel management, if they choose to do nothing then so be it, however if they address our group's concerns then the hotel would have got a five star review. On our arrival we booked a table for our evening meal for 6:30 pm and then at about 5:30 pm we placed our actual meal order. We arrived in the dining room at 6:30 and seated and ordered what we thought would be our drinks for the meal. We did not get our food until 7:15, what's that all about, why did we even bother to pre-order or in fact book a table as there were only three other diners in the restaurant, this concern forced us into finding alternative venues for our remaining three nights evening meals. Also on two occasions the scrambled eggs ordered with our breakfast did not resemble fluffy whipped scrambled eggs we were accustomed to, and on two separate occasions there was egg shell present in the scrambled eggs. Our quite small but adequate annexed room was fine with the exception that the hot water unit fitted to supply the hand basin was almost a waste of space and the size of the bathroom/shower toilet was bordering on the very small, probably not good if you are on the large size. As I said our overall stay was enjoyed by all in our group, but it would or could have been even better if these concerns did not exist. Don't be put off, but be aware. I will finish by thanking all staff we encountered for trying to make our stay an enjoyable one.
