My husband and I have been dining at the Clifton Inn for over 15 years and we return time and again for the excellent food — locally sourced when possible and always elegantly presented — and for the consistently pleasant and professional service. On our most recent visit we also stayed overnight, and we were equally impressed with the hotel aspect of their business. The Clifton Inn is one of those historic gems that occasionally pop up along Virginia’s byways, and we hope it continues to prosper for many more years.

The most wonderful stay at The Clifton. Beautiful location and hotel. Food, drinks, service all great and seeing the views at this time of year was perfect. The staff made us so welcome and were really knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you to all. We hope to be back from the UK soon :)

My husband and I stayed at the Clifton Inn in late January 2025, for a bit of relaxation. There are so many ways in which this inn excelled- proximity to Monticello and downtown Charlottesville, great meals - breakfast and dinner - comfy and peaceful room.

Great staff and superb dining experience! Will definitely return! The suite was very charming and we loved the view of the gardens. The continental pastries were nice start to the day and the Inn is conveniently located near several wineries and dowtown mall.

We met up with old friends for a catch up night, and couldn't have chosen a better place. The guest rooms are large, beautifully appointed and very comfortable (Livery Stable rooms have a great porch). Dinner at the restaurant was delicious (as was breakfast the next morning). There are plenty of places to walk on the property and several lovely nooks in the main Inn to sit and chat. Everyone we met on staff was welcoming and friendly. We all are looking forward to returning in the spring!

Very homely and cozy rooms. Somewhat of a mini infinity pool, which was very enjoyable. Plenty of trails to walk. Wonderful food. Felt overall well worth the price. Hospitality and customer service was also excellent. Would definitely return

The Clifton was the perfect retreat from DC and was exactly the experience I was hoping for. It was quiet and relaxing while also being a gorgeous combination of historic and contemporary. I brought my dog and we thoroughly enjoyed the trails and walking the expansive property. A lovely experience all around!

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Clifton Inn for her 61st birthday. We had a wonderful experience. We stayed in the one of the rooms in the main building, so it was very easy for us to enjoy access to the bar and the restaurant. The accommodations were beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered flowers ahead of time, and they were thoughtfully placed in our room before our arrival. Our dinner at the Inn's 1799 restaurant was elegant and delicious. We both look forward to staying at the Inn for another special occasion again.
