Popular Chania 4-star Hotels

We visited this well run hotel - 19th - 27th September - all the staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. Our room 406 was very well appointed and bed very comfortable. Airconditioned which we used when the nights were hot. Housekeeping did an excellent job. The hotel is in a good position, just moments walk to the Old Town, and a 12-15 minute to the nearest beach. Breakfast excellent choices of hot & cold food, with local selection of cakes, savoury and sweet Cretin pies. Local selection of bread and large selection of unusual jams and breakfast spreads. I would like to thank personally Nikos (Food & Beverage Manager)- for his friendship and ensuring that our breakfast meal was being enjoyed. He spoke to us personally each morning and he gave us some good information of places to visit outside Chania. Also I would like to thank - Emmanuella (Front of House- Reception)- again her friendship and she would also talk to us every time we passed the front desk. She again gave us very valuable information of places to visit, and organised taxi's and booked a day-trip by coach and boat. Emmanuella was again very polite, helpful yet professional, and helped make our holiday most memorable. A big thank you also to Necteria (breakfast server)- every morning she spoke to us, and remembered our breakfast order, she was so kind and helpful. We would certainly return to Samaria Hotel, and would recommend without hesitation - we have some lovely memories. Hotel has a good swimming pool,

This is one of the most warm-hearted hotels! Especially in the middle of the night, I came to an unfamiliar city and met the staff who really waited for a long time. The kind of warmth is beyond words. Thanks to their dedicated service, I have a deep memory of the hotel's creed: HOSPITALITY COMES FROM HEART. Since we wanted to go to the Samaritan Grand Canyon the next morning, we did not know how to pick up the bus or ship. A touch of black. MR MARIOS on duty that night gave us the most patient help. At 6 o'clock the next day, I also asked the hotel's food and beverage department to prepare a rich breakfast for each of us. The hotel's room has two hair dryers, which is great for ladies with long hair or curly hair! Of course, there are ironing utensils. The warmest thing is that there are tea bags, not just coffee, which is really a seemingly insignificant but warm heart for Chinese tourists. The breakfast environment is very bright and clean. The waiters are plentiful, they are always watching silently around you and providing the necessary services in a timely manner. It is worth mentioning that even if there are many people, the whole dining atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful. Under the sunshine, there is a pure and beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel!

Fantastic room in boiserie with views on the Venetian port of Chania. Super courteous staff. Very central location in the ZTL, taxis do not arrive there and a walk with baggage must be taken into account, although at arrival it was told me that the hotel offers a reception service at the taxi post and baggage transportation.

A lovely hotel in Chania. We had two nights with this hotel, the location is perfect. The breakfast is wonderful. There are several really nice decent local food just a few minutes walk away from the “tourists restaurants”. Seafood is excellent!

We stayed in this hotel for four nights approaching mid-May. The hotel has we believe 35 rooms and opened on 15 May 2021. It has six floors and is situated on one of the main routes into Chania. It is sleek, well appointed, with a pool, with a functioning spa and a bar and restaurant. It is supremely modern – and everything works! We flew to Chania and a taxi from the airport should cost €23.00 – check before hiring! There is a bus from the airport but we felt the bus station was too far to walk with luggage. We cannot comment on connections with ferries. The quality of the hotel is evident as soon as your taxi pulls up. Reception has dedicated soft seating and is a large area looking onto a grassed deck around the pool, with loungers and deck-chairs. Beyond reception and on the same floor level there is bar which serves snacks, lunch and dinner, but from a short menu. It does not provide fine dining. There is an outside seating area that is under cover. On the floor below is the breakfast room – it is quite large and again has an outside, under cover seating area. Breakfast is a self-service buffet with cooked food available – the kitchen is open to view. The selection is extensive with both international and Cretan dishes, and whilst for vegetarians a little limited we still felt well served. The hotel is five minutes’ walk from the eastern end of the seafront which is lined with bars and restaurants and the furthest end (the Venetian Port) could be reached within a 20 minute stroll. The lack therefore of an extensive dinner menu is no problem. Our room was modern and slick, generously sized with a larger than normal double bed and good quality linen. There was a sofa and workspace. There was a full room width balcony looking out but not directly on to the seafront. Wi-Fi was OK. The bathroom and WC were separated from the bedroom by an elaborate screen. The wash hand basin was separate from the shower which was a reasonably sized walk-in. The WC was entirely enclosed but relatively odour free. It did, however, have an “interesting” door that we were unwilling to shut for fear of being unable to open and sensor operated lights and fan. All-in-all however – apart from an initial problem with hot water – everything worked. Toiletries were acceptable. There was a safe, a mini-bar with complimentary items and tea/coffee making facilities. We experiences no significant noise from either inside or outside the hotel. Housekeeping was acceptable with linens changed every two days. The aircon/heating was very effective – complicated, but with clear instructions! The room had widescreen television and a streaming service but we used neither. Staff were friendly and helpful, most with a good grasp of English. The hotel appeared equipped to deal with guests with limited mobility. We saw no evidence of the hotel taking groups. The aparments are 10 min walk away from main town and 5-6 minutes from the beach. There are lots of lovely cafes nearby for breakfast. Although called an apartment there is no kitchenette to prepare a small meal- just kettle, coffee machine and fridge. Maybe I should have checked what all was included in the kitchenette before booking. We didnt have a great experience the first 2 nights as the AC wasnt cooling in our bedroom and we were prepared to check out instead of ruining our holiday but were offered a different apartment where the AC worked fine. The basement parking is quiet convenient. The cleaning team does a good job as we had flies in our shower (in the second apartment) and they cleaned it well each day. Over all, an ok experience but I wouldnt be rushing to book it again.

Historisches Hotel mit traumhafter Lage im venezianischen Hafen. Wir wurden von Eva herzlich empfangen und bekamen viele nette Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt in Chania. Das Hotel hat einen bezaubernden Charme mit herzlichen Menschen. Die Zimmer haben einen ganz besonderen Zauber und das gesamte Hotel ist liebevoll gestaltet. Das Frühstück konnten wir im hauseigenen Café/Weinbar mit Blick auf den Hafen und den Leuchtturm einnehmen. Wir durften aus einer Auswahl an griechischen Köstlichkeiten wählen, angefangen von Joghurt, Honig, frischem Obst, Käse, Oliven, frisch gepresstem Orangensaft .... ein perfekter Start in den Tag. Dankeschön an das gesamte Alcanea-Team. Sollten wir wieder einmal in der Nähe sein ... wir kommen gerne wieder!
