Serenissima Boutique Hotel

Chania old town is one of our favorites of the trip and this hotel is exceptional in every way - service to central location with lots of character and you feel special staying here. Breakfast is phenomenal, ala carte with specialty coffees included. Vassilis and Barbara at the front desk go out of their way to help out with vacation plans and all their recommendations were great. We spent 3 nights here - went to Al Hammam one day and spent time around Venetian harbor most of the time. Sunsets are spectacular, son enjoyed going to the clubs (short walk from hotel) and old town is so lively in the night, I never felt unsafe even walking alone at 1am back to hotel. Barbara booked a 4x4 private taxi for us for the day. We visited Balos beach with views from the parking lot - chose not to hike down as it was a really hot day; went to Elafonisi lagoon, and some wine tasting on the way back. It was a great day and nice way to see the island if you are short on time. Views are breathtaking every where. Booked a private transfer through Vassilis to Heraklion to visit archeological museum and palace of Knossos and spent a night there. Just a word of caution, there are steps to the rooms, and as hotel is in a pedestrian area, taxis are a short walk away. Vassilis helped us with luggage on our arrival from taxi stand and also brought the suitcases down the night before our departure so we just had to roll them to the taxi.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review of an absolutely perfect hotel! Every single detail, every encounter with the staff(who felt like friends by the time we left), every breakfast, every coffee to start the day was done with perfection and genuine care. We were on Crete to hike and missed the morning breakfast nearly every day due to our departure times, but Vassilis offered to prepare to-go breakfasts to fuel our days! No hotel manager has ever done that for us before! The one day we were able to dine at the hotel was excellent and it’s included! There’s something extra special about Old Town Chania, to be sure, but Serenissima is next level charming and we were so impressed with our experience from booking to checkout! I can’t recall when I’ve ever had such a personal, kind, genuinely interested and caring interaction with a hotel and the people who make it wonderful, and I travel A LOT! From the many great restaurant suggestions to arranging transportation and giving guidance on the way things are run in Greece, we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with everyone we had the pleasure of meeting at this lovely gem of a hotel. I will be back and I won’t stay anywhere else…unless I just move to Chania & open that cat sanctuary ;)

Located in Chania Old Town on a quiet non-vehicle street. There are only seven rooms. Ours was spacious and well-appointed. Staff friendly and efficient. Great breakfast served every morning. Just a very short walk from the waterfront. A very good restaurant - Tam Tam, is right around the corner. If you're in Chania, stay here.

What a wonderful find! We absolutely loved the Serenissima Boutique Hotel, it’s one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed. Fabulous location in the old town of Chania, just a minute’s walk to the harbour front. We stayed in the Superior Suite with terrace (in fact it had a terrace & a tiny balcony). Super comfy bed & lots of space in the room. Breakfast was incredible (hard to resist the gorgeous complimentary ‘cakey’ offerings which came alongside the ‘healthy’ things we had ordered!). The staff at the front desk & the staff serving breakfast were all so friendly and helpful. Very hard to leave such a charming & special place (also quite hard to leave the hotel’s aircon & walk out the front door into the August Cretan heat!). Hugely recommend this hotel.

The Serenissima is beautifully positioned in Chania Old Town, less than 5mins to the harbour and 15mins to Nea Chora beach. Surrounded by top class restaurants and bars, it’s the perfect location. We stayed seven nights and the personal service was second to none. All the reception staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, always happy to give tips on their favourite beaches, restaurants etc. our superior deluxe room was excellent, one of the best bathrooms we’ve ever enjoyed. Air conditioning was perfect and the beds really comfortable. In all, the ideal location within Chania Old Town

Beautiful hotel with very accommodating hosts. The hotel itself is so charming and full of history. The breakfast is delicious. The only complaint I can make is the bedding is scratchy. That could be how it is in all of Greece though and we just view bedding differently in America.
