The setting is idyllic - by a very picturesque lake, home to many families of ducks. The grounds are tranquil and there are nice walks around the lake. The open air pool is very spacious and well kept. The restaurant includes tables on a covered terrace overlooking the lake. The short menu consists of local Périgourdine dishes such as foie gras and in impressive salad with gèsiers de canard (duck gizzards), foie gras and duck terrine. Main courses included steaks and duck confit. The quality of cooking is excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. The hotel building and the rooms are quite basic for such a beautiful setting (presumably hence the rather low 2-star rating). However, if one doesn’t mind the lack of extreme luxury, all is comfortable. This is reflected in the very good pricing - a very reasonable cost for staying in such a beautiful location. The beautiful and historic town of Périgueux is only a 10 minute drive away.
