Souchitra Riverside Guesthouse

A lovely and relaxed place right above the Mekong. We had a bungalow overlooking the wide and slow flowing, very majestic river. And after the owner had put a hammock up for us, we hardly wanted to leave the terrace. We came to see Wat Phou, but stayed much longer to do nothing but enjoy life in the way you can only do in Laos. It seems, that the new owner builds the place up without destroying its special laid back atmosphere. We can also recommend the cafe just over the road, again with a relaxed atmosphere and very good food and drinks.

Spent some time at this property which is under new management. The hostess was very kind, helpful and welcoming. Place was also amazingly peaceful. The room and bed was clean, well ventilated and with insect screens on windows. Near the front office there was complimentary water refill and lots of information for folks new to Champasak: things to do, where to eat, see the sunset, etc.
