We booked the trip for a long weekend at the very end of the summer holidays. Traveling from the uk the trip was much better value than the uk parks. In total travel (le shuttle and petrol/tolls), accommodation and activities only cost us 800 pound for three nights and 4 days. The uk equivalent was 1300 pounds just for accommodation! We arrived and went straight to the aqua mondo. It was busy but that didn’t stop us enjoying it. The wild rapids were a particular highlight. Cleaners were always moving around the changing rooms. We had a lakeside lodge (552) 100% worth paying for the lakeside location. I chose this lodge purposely for its proximity to the facilities. We had to drive through whole park to loop back to our lodge and I wouldn’t like to have been towards the back. It was saying we was over a mile back to the main hub at own point. With a 6 yo this location was perfect. We could pop back if we need to change for activities etc, or just simply forgot something. We also didn’t need bikes. The accommodation was basic, beds were comfy and was fine for a long weekend. A highlight for us was the “beach” by the lake. We rented beds two days, ordered drinks from the bar and enjoyed finding all sorts of creatures in the lake. We were impressed with the lifeguard presence. The beach bar/restaurant was fab! Honestly felt like we could have been in the south! We ate here two lunchtimes. We rented an electric boat which was fun and my daughter did the high climb. We were disappointed with the climbing. There were no instructors on the equipment, after a brief set to the kids were left to go it alone. Most, including my daughter got upset and came Down after ten minutes. This would be my only real complaint of the trip. My daughter also took her scooter and enjoyed the skate park which was right by our lodge. We didn’t feel the need to book any more activities as the beach combined with the aqua mondo took up most of our time. We ate at the Italian, Embarcadero, and mc Donald’s as well the beach bar previously mentioned. So many choices from steaks and seafood, down to a quick bite. All very nice. In conclusion we had a fantastic long weekend, helped by the 30 degrees heat. This a summer resort, not sure I’d want to stay in winter. I’d 100% come back and recommend, but i think the 3 nights was just right for us. A week may be too long.

We had the best time at Lac D’Ailette! What a fabulous Center Parcs. Stayed with our children (in lodge 345). We’ve stayed at many around the UK and France but this one had a bit of everything and did it really well! Our cabin was beautiful and serene and really clean. Slightly far from the center but a beautiful walk and cycle in (only 10 mins really). The kids loved watching the nature and animals from the veranda. The rented bikes were a hit and available for all ages, sizes and skill levels (including electric, tandem, stabilisers, etc.). You can rent for a day but really it’s more cost effective to rent them for your whole stay. The pool change rooms were incredibly clean. The slides were fabulous - something for all ages. The crazy river was all our favourite. A nice mix of outdoor and indoor swimming areas. There were loads of kids activities to take advantage of. Some free and some at cost. The ponies and pédalo were favourites and kids club - ‘become an artist’ for example (special thanks to instructor Cole, Amandine and Guillaume (or Gustave)). Great free activities included the farm, the beach, attack arena (football on the beach), summer activities like cinema. We took sharp knives and dish soap, 3x hand soap for each bathroom. Dishwasher tablets - they do give you a starter pack with a few cleaning provisions. Like with any center parcs I’d pack as much non perishable food as you need and towels for the pool. Groceries are expensive but convenient for what you need. The takeaway delivery food is a little minimal, so it’s really cook in or eat in restaurants - but you do need to book these slightly in advance. My favourite resto was actually the beach cafe, available to sit in for lunch or take away in the evenings.

This is our 6th time to this CP we haven’t been for some time and much has changed- most has been mentioned in previous reviews. However today we witnessed a child vomiting in the outside pool, most of it went on the side of the pool and on the flat sunbathing area, while of course these things happen how staff respond to the situation was appalling. A yellow caution sign was eventually put out over half of it but not before other children put their hands in it and washed it off in the pool. When it came to clearing it up the lifeguard literally swept it towards us using a watering can of pool water, it was going everywhere, no gloves were worn nor disinfectant used. The pool wasn’t vacated nor a net used to catch the rest. This on top of our pre order of bikes not being able to be fully full filled because they ran out of sizes and my husbands bike seat falling off mid ride causing a broken toe, it’s been eventful. No apology and No refund was given for the bike I had pre paid for, we had to use it as a credit on another activity. It will be our last visit to this CP.

I read quite a few of the reviews on here before travelling from the UK and I have to say I am really really surprised at them. This place is AMAZING. We are here (leaving Friday) with our two young kids (6 and 8) and it is just the best holiday we have ever had. We have been to UK Center Parcs (Longleat and Elveden) so I want to be clear we are drawing a fair comparison. This place is better in *every single department* The service is incredible - like off the charts incredible. The staff are incredibly polite, there are cleaners everywhere (quiet). The view over the lake is quite simply breathtaking. The Aqua Mundo knocks the socks off any other swimming facilities we have ever been to. I am actually autistic - something I have to repeatedly tell people in the UK and beg them to accommodate my needs. Here I have not even had to mention it - not once. There is no tinny music piped in any of the shops, pool or facilities. The staff make such an effort and it is HUGE. The accommodation is lovely and far surpasses the cabins we ahve stayed in UK Center Parcs. No cabins here - they are lovely little cottages and are well equipped - it is true they have no oven but is that really what you need in a place with fresh baked baguette available daily anyway? I cannot overstate how much we are enjoying our trip - we arrived on Monday. We are only sorry we actually have to go home but we all agree we will be back. Loved every second and I am sure we will tomorrow too!

We booked a 14 day trip to stay in a 2 bedroom comfort lodge with towel and bedding package we stayed in 562 for a family of 5, 2 adults, a 15 yo, 6 yo with Down syndrome and 1 year old . We returned home after 10 days . The lodge is basic but comfortable, has a microwave, dishwasher, Fridge. Basic utensils, hob no oven. It has a safety gate at the top of stairs but not one at the bottom. The lodge was within the trees and not much outside space. Having a child with a disability who does not understand danger we had the following issues. Unable to lock doors from inside. So he could escape very easily, Unable to isolate the electric hob so he could switch it on. We were able to park outside the lodge due to having a disability badge. Otherwise it is a trek to the car park. We had to ask for a change of towels and bedding after day 8 . Which they provided after some discussion. Things to take with you. Towels for the pool Waterproof holder for phone in pool Safety gate for bottom of stairs if needed Bin bags Toilet roll Kitchen roll BBQ and coal ( very expensive on site) Washing up liquid Tea towels Cloths Sharp knife Foil Ice packs Shade for the beach The site - very large lots of walking , Has beach but if you want a sun longer it is chargeable. Pool is great and provides loungers and life jackets for all if required. Free - Has a restraunt inside. Lots of activities but all expensive Mini Golf - inside and out - chargeable Bikes - which looked great but if we had hired would have worked out at 70 Euros per day for all of us which would have soon mounted up. Peddlo’s Viking trips on water - chargeable Kids club ( but could not use due to our child having disability) - free Jungle gym - free Bowling chargeable Huge high ropes - chargeable Restaurant’s- all expensive Shop on site - ridiculously expensive McDonald’s- parable to UK Cinema - chargeable Driving buggies chargeable Tennis court - chargeable Mini petting farm free Washing machines 5 euros dryer 3 euros We went to carafort to do our shopping due to site shop prices. Overall ok for a short break but very expensive .would we go again prob not - other than the pool which our kids loved we found most activities not suitable for our son with a disability.

After seeing some of the reviews I was worried but we had a brilliant time. The beach was amazing and not too busy, the kids loved the kids club activities and swimming pool. Lots of space for family bike rides and walks. The accommodation was basic but we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Would have been nice to have air con but we took fans with us for our bedrooms and that did the job! Food was expensive but it is at all centre parcs. We would definitely return.

We have been to lots of Center Parcs both in the UK and France. We tend to go as the kids like it and know what to expect with activities etc. We tried this location as the photos and lakeside beach were interesting. The good - lakeside location puts you right in the middle of nature and the kids loved the number of ducks, geese swans etc wandering right outside the lodge. Aqua mondo water park was very good and well run. The large beach setting was bustling and had a great vibe with lots of comfortable seating. Small animal farm was much better than others encountered in France. Staff were friendly and helpful for the most part with a few exceptions, mostly in the restaurants. The supermarket was well stocked and only a bit more expensive for most things (alcohol aside.) Activities such as water sports and archery were well run with great staff. The bad - the lodge was basic which we expected but also very tired - loose fittings on cupboards and dishwasher wobbling, cracked paintwork and not very clean (we stayed in a premium lakeside lodge.) Food in Italian and lakeside were OK but overpriced in the lakeside bar. Drinks were ridiculously overpriced - to be expected at Center Parcs but €5 for a coke is nonsense. Would we go back to Center Parcs after this visit? Probably. Would we return to this one? Probably not.

If you love poorly maintained houses with mold, musquito corpses all over the walls and very expensive activities, this is the place for you! The swimming pool and lovely beach near the lake are the two things that make this park go from 1 star to 3.

Currently half way through our stay at Center Parcs Le Lac D’Ailette. I think if you come here expecting 5* accommodation I would question your choices. Most people come here for the variety of activities and a comfortable base to stay at - and this place does exactly that. Having stayed at CP UK, and now here, I would say the French CP accommodation is a little more basic, but perfectly functional and comfortable. Things to note - unless you are in VIP you need to bring your own towels for the house. Maybe bring your own mugs, the cups here are TINY so we went to Leclerc in Laon to do a big shop and bought some normal sized mugs for a cup of tea/coffee. There’s no chopping board - bring lots of antibac wipes - and only one pillow each with no spares. If you’re fussy make sure you bring extra! But it’s clean, spacious and although reviews say there’s a tiny kitchen it’s what I would expect. The swimming pool is amazing, plenty to do and can spend hours in there. A bonus to UK center parcs is you don’t pay for badminton/tennis, you turn up and wait for a court to be free. The aerial adventure is well worth the money - looks like you can do it quickly but much more challenging than the Go Ape courses in UK. We’ve been to the Italian restaurant which was lovely, and going to the French bistro towards the end of our stay. Would I return? Yes, but would be sure to select our location (we were close to the centre but some cottages are quite some distance away!) and probably pack a couple extra pillows! If you want 5* comfort this isn’t the place for you, but for an action packed stay with family young and old this is a great place to be.
