Disappointing Stay at Hotel Castel Our experience at Hotel Castel was deeply unsatisfactory. Staff were unhelpful, including a manager who refused to provide a hairdryer, leaving my partner with wet hair before a date. Another staff member eventually borrowed one from another guest—an unacceptable situation. Communication was lacking. We weren’t informed the hotel would lock at night and require a code, causing late-night confusion. The room’s housekeeping was inconsistent; towels weren’t replaced, glasses were left dirty, and water leaked onto the balcony floor daily, creating a hazard. The bathroom privacy was shocking. A window allowed anyone on the opposite balcony to see in, with no curtain or frosted glass to ensure privacy—an unacceptable invasion of privacy for a 4-star hotel. Breakfast was also a major letdown. We weren’t told it was chargeable, and on three out of six days, it wasn’t even available. When it was, options were extremely limited, with scarce gluten-free choices and inadequate amenities like a single coffee cup for all guests. Late check-out was inflexible, and the only storage offered for belongings was an unsecured boot room. Speaking with other guests confirmed a decline in the hotel’s standards compared to previous years. Overall, this was the worst experience we’ve had at a 4-star hotel. We hope management takes steps to address these significant issues.
