AC not working properly in room, trouble with the one electric plug we tried to use. Room smelled musty. Asked to move but was told maybe tomorrow. No follow up. While an easy walk up hill to the Cathedral area for dinner, need to be street smart. Would not stay again.

Hôtel Littéraire Alexandre Vialette a a great place to stay in Clermont-Ferrand. The location is congenial -- within walking distance of the station and near the Cathedral. The hotel is comfortable and contemporary. The rooms are generously-sized. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but just ask and you'll be given recommendations for places close by. The breakfast is a real treat, served on the 6th floor so it comes with a fantastic view of the city, not to mention delicious squeeze-your-own grapefruit or orange juice.

We stayed in this hotel for one night only, our purpose being to take the very scenic train from Clermont Ferrand to Nimes - would very much recommend. We also hoped to do the Puy du Dome, but our schedule did not allow enough time for this, Instead, we explored the very interesting town. The hotel was well situated - walking distance from the station - was very clean, provided a good breakfast in the dining room upstairs which had lovely views over the town. Above all, however, I would like to compliment the staff. The Receptionists provided very helpful information and advice - and other staff went out of their way to send on some items which I had left in my hotel room - I can't thank them enough. So, for value for money, location and customer service - this hotel delivers.

This place is lovely if you want a city break this is the place right in the centre secure parking if you take your car staff are fantastic and the place is outstanding ly clean. The hotel has lots of history you can have room service if you want once again staff are fantastic

Good location, only 5 minutes walk to the cathedral square. Staff very friendly. Parking on site for a fee but if you have a large car be aware that the access is tight. Clean and comfortable room. We understand each room is different and ours had the sink and shower in the room rather than in a separate bathroom. Breakfast (extra cost) was buffet style but with a good selection and definitely worth it.
