We spent 3 nights here on DBB. It’s one of those places you almost don’t want to review in case it becomes so popular you can’t get in again. A beautiful setting with delightful riverside walks either side of the road. Extremely comfortable both public areas & bedroom. Staff are very helpful & well-informed. Evening meals are excellent - best food we’ve had out in a long while & beautifully presented. Already booked for a return visit. One slight niggle - booked a ground floor room as my husband has a heart condition & we were on the second floor with no lift. On rebooking, discovered that rooms may be reallocated so if a specific room/floor is important, make sure you say so when booking.

We stayed at Mill End for two nights in November, and we feel this was one of the best stays we’ve had so far. The hotel is tucked away, but so easy to get to. We were greeted by warm, friendly and helpful staff who helped us take our bags to our rooms (not just handing a key over and directing us like most places) this really made us feel truly welcome. Our room was perfect. Spacious but cosy, handmade biscuits and top notch products in the bathroom. The hotel had helped me pre-book some flowers sourced locally for my partner to have on arrival, and she said they were the nicest flowers she’d ever had from a florist! The hotel grounds were stunning and very well kept. A tiny path leads you down to the river and the view that opens up is breathtaking. it was just magical! Dinner and breakfast were absolutely divine. Some of the best food we’ve ever had, made even better by the terrific table service. Nothing was too much trouble. We have to say that the service we had throughout really made this trip so special for us. They are a wonderful bunch, and it really does make or break a stay if you don’t receive good service. We can’t recommend this place highly enough and we cannot wait to go back!

A lovely long weekend with our extended family. The staff could not have been more helpful or understanding. The facilities at the hotel are excellent, and we enjoyed walks in the adjoining beautiful countryside. All the teams at Mill End are highly professional, ensuring a perfect and memorable experience.

An absolutely beautiful hotel set in a slice rural of heaven. We received a very warm welcome and excellent service from all staff throughout our stay. Our room was very comfortable- huge appreciation for the homemade shortbread after a long day of walking and exploring Castle Drogo and the surrounding area. Lovely selection of toiletries to use for that little touch of luxury. The food was exemplary! Outstanding quality and a great selection to choose from. We were sad to only be staying for one night as there was so much on the menu we wanted to try!

We came to Mill End just for dinner as we were staying at another place locally. It was an absolutely fantastic meal and we couldn't believe the value for money. They sell it as 3 courses for £49 however it was more like 5 courses with the Amuse Bouche and Bread course! I'd also recommend getting a coffee afterwards as they gave us some lovely petit fours to go with it. We had a look at a couple of rooms when we came to eat too and have decded when we have our trip to Devon next year we'll definitely be staying here!

3rd time we've been to Mill End and 2nd time this year! Once again it didn't dissapoint! As it was the 2nd time this year we opted for a slightly cheaper room which was Lyd, it was very cosy, and a little small for our liking, however it was decorated beautifully and it is called a 'small double' so we had anticipated it being small! One of the main reasons we keep coming back is the food and again it didn't dissapoint! We stayed two nights and it was a different menu each night and also different butters and amuse bouche! Lord knows how they manage to change all that over two nights! We really do love it hear so have already booked two stays for next year!

Well where do I start. One big disappointment and a lackluster food offering. (We even phoned prior to booking to check that there would be vegan options.) On arriving, being given a menu and then being told to "order whatever you want from there as the chef can accommodate", which sounded a baffling prospect with 3/4 dishes are full meat affairs and so after querying the confusing suggestion, and the options are only the veggie one but without the diary element. To then be given a non vegan amuse bouche that was only discovered by having check if it was suitable, and hard split peas for a dhal. The meat options have been craftfully selected to showcase local produce. The veggie option appears to just be on there to appease the non meat eaters, with the typical remove items to be a vegan alternative being a lower rate option. An oil saturated crouton to accompany the soup and undercooked legumes. If you must. Spending £100 on 2 unsatisfactory courses, one glass of wine and the 10% service charge is the final kick in the teeth for such an under par meal. If you eat meat, then I can see why it has such a positive rating. If you don't, then I'd ask for another bread board over the actual menu item. Otherwise you're left feeling massively underwhelmed and overcharged. Scored 2 based on my partner's meal. Based solely on the vegan experience and it wouldn't score. Especially when being served non vegan food

We spent two nights here, dinner bed and breakfast. It was wonderful. The food is exquisite and the staff are amazing. The hotel is clean the rooms are beautiful and spacious. We walked along the river, through fields into the town of Chagford. Coffeemaker in the room with fresh milk in the fridge. And home made biscuits to go along with a cup,of tea or coffee. Also a large bottle of water in the room. The bed was super comfortable, the bedding sofa and comfortable. A nice lounge to sit in and have a drink before dinner. Overall a lovely stay, our third and we will be back.
