Best Hotels near Lantay ni Lola Mada, Cebu

We went to Cebu for a few days and decided to stay here since the location is near almost everything that we need and the rate is cheaper compared to other hotels nearby. Here are my thoughts: 1. Originally, we booked a Deluxe Room (one queen bed and one single bed) via phone a week prior our arrival. The Receptionist told us that the room can hold three guests since they don't have a room with three beds. 2. When we arrived, I was surprised to see how small the room was. The beds can definitely fit three adults / persons but the room itself is quite cramped for three people with luggages. You can't even walk around the room without bumping to each other or bumping to the furniture. 3. I went to the Reception Area and requested if we can have three single beds instead. In my head, I imagined that with three single beds, we could have more space and navigate a little freely. 4. Arrived back the hotel around 8ish (after having dinner) and was disappointed that our room was not arranged how we requested several hours ago. 5. Went back to the Reception Area and explained what has transpired. It was a good thing that the staff there were polite that kept me from making a scene. 6. I explained (again) that the reason why we're requesting for three single beds because the size of the room doesn't suffice three adults. Receptionist apologized and ALSO agreed that the room was too tiny for us. I almost laughed because when we checked in, I explained to them that we were three guests. They even asked for a 500php fee for the additional person. Why didn't they tell us from the start that the room was not equipped to accommodate three guests? 7. I requested for a bigger room (Family Room) which only costs 100php more than our original room. Luckily, there was an available room the following day until we leave Cebu. 8. Family Room was definitely spacious. It has a one queen sized bed and a sofa bed. The room was adequately clean but there are some evidence of worn out furniture and old sheets (clean but minimal stains). Fortunately, the bathroom was clean and the towels were relatively new. 9. We requested to ”Make Up Room” the next day since will be out the whole day that time. When we got back, again, felt really frustrated because the room was still unkempt and the trash weren't taken out. Needed to call the Reception Area again. 10. They provide free WiFi but they will just give you a piece of paper with the code. And the code is only good for one gadget for two days. If you have like five gadets, you need to ask five vouchers. Since we were at the 4th floor, for some reason, the internet gets disconnected from time to time. 11. They don't offer free water daily. I suggest that you stock up your room with water. 12. Aircon is old. It can cool the room partially because it's just a window type zircon which I think is just less than 1 horsepower. It's manual. 13. No trash bin inside the room. Dreadful, dirty, dilapidated, rude staff in 2019. Avoid at all costs or regret you entered here. See my reviews above, and below. I have stayed here most years since 2006. My family lives close by. In 2006 I was impressed by the ambience, staff and antiques collected in the hotel, then named ”Metropolis” after the film. Then, I loved it. Each room was themed after ”Metropolis” and the hotel showed a magnificent collection of antique Philippine and Malaysian art works. I think Metropolis had new owners and named Crown Regency Residencies around 2008. Sine 2008 it has deteriorated. No restoration, same menu as 2006. Good staff have quit. Check in and check out process both commendable, very quick. Room review: Bed and pillow were so comfortable to lay in. You’ll have a good night sleep in this hotel. It smelt fresh too. Cold AC and working television. Shower was also good, working shower heater. The room was spacious, paid $23 for a night, not bad. I’d stay here again if needed in the future. Cleanliness: Some areas needed improvement. Wardrobe was dull and dirty. Dusty night stand. Also noticed the comforter has tiny ink stains. And the towels, they smelt nice like laundry/ good detergent smell but they need to do better with washing off the stains. Breakfast: Had the bacon, rice and hard boiled egg. It was ok. I commend the staff for serving it quickly. Staff: Very courteous and attentive. Requested for a room with window, it was granted but no view 😂 All I see was a dark wall which made the room gloomy. Elevator sometimes get crowded, will take a while to be used better use the staircase if you are in a hurry. WIFI was bad, intermittent signal. And the entire day I didn’t have a good phone reception. So mobile data is useless.

Very convenient location, so close to restaurants, fast food, 7-11, laundromat and etc. Booked this for CFO, just 2 minutes walk. Receptionist was very nice and helpful. They have an elevator, convenient for travelers with heavy luggage or bags. My reservation was a queen-sized bed but the room I got was not queen-sized. I requested for the sheet to be changed as it had stains. Take note they require ₱1000 deposit for stains and lost items. So check everything as soon as you get in the room and inform them of any stains and items that aren’t working. The bed is comfortable but the pillows aren’t. TV and AC are both working. Wifi is spotty not good for working purposes. Bathroom needs cleaning. Their toilet bowl has yellowish stain and the walls have dirt marks. Water heater was working fine. Cupboard and flooring need cleaning. Overall it was an ok stay. I’ll book again because of the location and elevator. For the price I think The Rooms by Alinace is better compared to those Reddoorz/ OYO hotels.

The service was so amazing it just that the hot shower in room 501 does not work at all we tried to troubleshoot it but did not work at all. Overall it is perfect spot and were so close to everything in the city plus it got an amazing view super love it

Spent my required quarantine here for international arrivals. They are one of the approved quarantine hotels. And when I was searching for quarantine hotel before departure, they were the most responsive and flexible as travel covid protocols constantly changed; made my reservation via email. I opted for the package that included meals and airport transportation. Everything worked seamlessly -- from airport pickup to checkout. Hotel personnel were helpful and accommodating with our special requests, room was basic but clean and everything were in working order, beds were comfortable, AC noise acceptable, clean bathroom with good water pressure and hot water, and really great wifi which was a life saver while on quarantine.

The room is clean as always. Bathroom is spotless and no smell. Its good for budget hotel and location is accessible, although it is difficult to catch taxi when you are in a hurry. Overall it is a cheap and nice place to crash from traveling.

Good location with wide range of amenities. Hotel and room itself are clean, well-maintained with good internet connection. I came with my spouse and small kids, employees (like Riza and Girlie) were helpful and attentive to our needs. My family felt at home during our stay. Everything was very convenient. Good value for money.

The location is good close to Ayala Cebu and the suite was clean and decent size. However there was no internet signal throughout the stay in the room. Complained numerous times to the staff but they weren’t able to resolve the issue.

As someone who wants to travel on a budget, dislikes noises, and likes clean amenities, I consider myself lucky to find such deal in shejoje. Their capsules are enough to have a comfortable sleep as for me who's 5'2. But it might be challenging for someone who's tall. Their bathroom and shower are in the same place. I'm amazed that they always maintain the cleanliness of them. Their staff are nice and approachable, too. It was indeed a great stay. Will definitely book again once I return to Cebu.
