We stayed for one night during our Colca Canyon hike. This family run lodge is in a lovely location in the canyon. The room was modern, with a very large bed, private bathroom, and balcony. And no bugs/spiders etc. Nice place to relax after a tough hike. Host was welcoming and friendly, and they offer a lovely home cooked dinner - ours was a very good guacamole and crackers; a hearty soup; and a choice of chicken or alpaca with rice, chips and veggies. Only thing is the walls between the rooms are quite thin so bring earplugs if that bothers you.

We stayed at Colibri for one night as part of our 3-day hike in Colca Canyon. It was fantastic!! The host was the sweetest man, the breakfast and the dinner were both amazing and the beer was cold when we arrived and REALLY needed one! Our room had a balcony and we sat out with our beer and stared that the incredible canyon. Can't beat that!! Many people take a break in San Juan de Chuccho but then continue on to Sangalle to sleep. I urge you to take an extra day and enjoy the canyon even more by staying at night at Colibri. It made it more of an experience vs a race. We met some people who were on their way to Sangalle and they said "you are so lucky that you don't have to keep hiking". We knew we were lucky!! Colca Canyon was the highlight of our trip, WAY above Machu Picchu and all the tourists and almost Disney World feel to it. Colca Canyon and the people we met who live there, is the real Peru experience. Thank you for such a great experience: Linda and Brian from Canada

I'd say this is the best place to stay in the Colca Canyon, and also among the best to stay in the country! Located in a very remote area, the bedrooms are furnished really tastefully amd to a very high standard. At Colibrí Lodge, we not only had the most comfortable bed of our whole stay in Peru (which included other 5 locations), but we're also treated to a very thick feather down duvet and a menu of pillows including natural fillings and memory foam! You rarely get more than one pillow per person in Peru, in our experience, and here we had 5 for 2 people plus 2 cushions! The owner, Rivelino, is a wonderful host! He was incredibly attentive and kind. We were sorry not to stay longer! We arrived around 5pm and had to leave at 4.30am the next morning so we're unable to try the breakfast, but had a fantastic dinner, all freshly cooked and delicious! The main point to improve on is the hot water. The shower had great water pressure but not for hot water. An improvement on this would be amazing but I would still come back to this place. So if you visit the Colca Canyon, please make sure to stay here at least 2 nights. I'm sure Rivelino can put you in touch with local guides to advise on the best local walks.

Excellent newly built rooms with panoramic view of the Colca Canyon. Very nice host, who speaks well English. Very authentic location with beautiful flowers and the constant impressive sound of the Rio Colca. The place takes card and also offers a restaurant and beer :))

Given the remote location, I was positively surprised by the standard of the room. It was very clean, the shower was hot and the bed comfortable and warm. The big window allows for a great view of the mountains from your bed. The room came with a towel, soap and toilet paper. Dinner was delicious.

This place would have been excellent accommodation anywhere but was unbelievably good for the middle of nowhere. We marvelled at how on earth they got all the materials down there to build it (host said combo of carrying and mules). Was one of most modern rooms and biggest, cosiest beds we’ve stayed in across South America. Lovely bathroom and incredible view of canyon from bed. Host was brilliant too - kind, attentive, enthusiastic, fantastic English. Good, big meals too. Can’t recommend enough.

BEST place to stay in San Juan de Chuccho and potentially even the Cabanaconde/Colca Canyon region. Very modern rooms with huge bed and a better bathroom than home :) delicious breakfast (included) and diner (25 soles for 3 courses)! Highly recommend

A nice little place with delicious, local food to spend the night when hiking in the Colca Canyon. The host is very nice! Ask him (he also speaks very good english) for the path down to the river - it's worth it!

The most amazing place to sleep the night during the colca canyon hikes. The hosts are so welcoming and sweet. The lodge is beautiful, the food is amazing and it is a real authentic experience! Definitely stay here if you can!! We also tasted a ‘cactus sour’, a twist on the well known pisco sour. Deliscious!
