Lakeside Manor Hotel

We came for a breakfast and found the restaurant disgusting; lots of flies all around the tables and dirty floor. Food was OK (pricey though) and they forgot to serve us a bread with the breakfast! The young staff was very unpleasant, it felt like they didn't want to be in work that day and serve people..

Breakfast here every Wednesday, thank you to chef Kathleen for beautiful pancake stack and omg the chocolate sauce is delicious 😍 Lovely friendly girls in restaurant Holly & Clara & Clare on reception . The view of the lake is amazing . Thanks again .

Very disappointed no lunch menu just soup and sandwiches. Very standard sandwich for a 12.50 price point. Could do an awful lot better. Staff friendly and efficient. Normally stop in lisgrey for the lunch when passing through Virginia but decided to give Lakeside a try. Sadly I won’t be back.

We were here a number of weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised how nice the food was so this evening as the sun was out decided to go back and have a bite alfresco. It was quite busy but plenty of staff working so there really is no excuse for slow service. We were told you can not eat outside anymore just at the new covered area. We waited for a table to become available. The gent took an order so we could have a beverage while we waited. 20 mims later after a table had become free we finally got our drinks. a further 10 mins later a stern looking older lady took our order. The food the took 50 mins to come out. we ordered a small chicken wings chips and a buddha bowl and onion rings. the buddha bowl was listed as " herb rice, avocado, hummus, baby spinach, rocket and a chilli tomato salsa” for €13.50. I have attached a picture of what I was served. Surely it would have been better for the kitchen to call this dish off than serve plain cold rice, brown avocado, wilted warm rocket and a salsa that was clearly from a jar. Onion rings were oily, chips were oily and over cooked. I’d go as far as to say over blanched then over fried as they were not fresh. Chicken wings were also over cooked and the sauce tasteless. Service was poor. Slow and disorganised. There didn’t seem to be any presence of a leader or manager. It’s a shame as this hotel is on an amazing setting. Management should be watching the weather in advance and have appropriate staff on who know what they are doing. Split into sections so customers are not waiting. And have a kitchen team who take pride in the food they are sending out. We won’t be in a hurry back for food.

Excellent from start to finish. We were met at the door with a smile and warm welcome. We were brought up stairs to the function room and again met with very friendly staff who seated us and explained how it all worked.. The food was very good. Service was great. Clearly staff have been well trained. We went to the bar for a drink afterwards and again couldn't of met nicer staff... Free glass of prosecco and the bar man was friendly and full of character. Couldn't say a bad word about our experience. I can see work is being done too the place to up date it and I think that's great. Keep going!! 😁

Stayed for a night passing through with work, rooms were a bit dated but very comfortable, clean and very well priced, with a great view over the lake! The waiting staff in the restaurant were very accommodating and polite, in a relaxed setting - ideal for a business trip or last minute stopover. Above all else, the food here was fantastic!! Couldn't fault the place, will definitely stay again!

Went in for lunch. Staff member was rude. Older lady with a fringe and a funny walk. Food was meh. Think the chicken in my sandwich was off. €12 for soup and sandwich. Robbery. Think we got our drinks on the third time asking. Place is dull and drab and needs an overhaul. It’s stuck in the 90’s.

First impression poor drab & uninviting , accessibility to hotel difficult in bad weather no drop-off zone, lounge area more like a reception area , lacks comfort and relaxing atmosphere . Bedrooms spacious but no shelving for clothes , bathroom small with safety issues in a wet environment, the hotel lacked any quiet relaxing areas even the restaurant was noisy and cramped , but food was excellent and also the staff but no return visit.

I've have lived close to the lakeside Manor for a long time,but haven't visited for many years because of my experiences in the past. only lately I have began to hear a lot of positive comments and stories about the improvement in the establishment. So twice in a week I visited, firstly with my family and on the second occasion I went solo. I cannot believe the difference. The hotels looks a lot better both inside and out. The major improvement for me was in the food. To mention one dish in particular(Thai green curry) was delicious, a very good portion served with 1/2 rice and 1/2 chips. A seriously good quality dish. Delighted to have finally returned to a premises which seems to be on the up and up. Well done all at THE LAKESIDE MANOR.
