Me, my partner and a friend decided to treat ourselves to a day out and a fab Sunday lunch. We had heard some good reports about Cabra Castle so I decided to book the set lunch. On arrival we where initially impressed as it was a beautiful day. However we where soon to realise the facade was only just that. We sat down at our table and where presented with a menu printed on A4 paper which was missing many dishes which had been on the online menu. We ordered in excited anticipation. The first course arrived looking very unappealing, a large chicken pastry (voulavont), it was like something bought from a processed food range, basic! The second course was equally as disappointing. My Turkey and Ham was dry and tasteless and the gravy was more or less a brown flavourless gloup (bisto would have been better) all the sides where mediocre, my friends where equally disappointing (beef & Duck) and then desserts came. Very ordinary and not of any real quality. Overall hugely disappointing and unfortunately we won’t be back or recommending! We didn’t make a fuss as the poor waitresses where willing us to like the food but in typical Irish form when asked how everything was we replied OK. When it was anything but!
