Great location but the hotel had cracks on the wall and the shower wasn’t the best

The location is brilliant, downtown San Diego close to every thing. The checking in process was smooth and professional but the receptionist guy was very grim, he gave me the feeling that I am not welcome at all. The room is elegant, impeccably clean and the bed is super, but the air conditioner is rather loud. I gave my greetings to the house keeping as they did an excellent job every day. The complimentary morning coffee was perfect and very good. Upon checkout the receptionists were very nice ladies. All in all a very good hotel to stay in san diego.

The hotel is very well located, the cleaning is good but it has a huge problem that ruins everything: it is very noisy. The hotel is located in a building with other 2 establishments that I think are own and run by the same owners. The building has huge pluming problems that generate enormous noise from the bathroom that makes sleeping impossible. I was in room 205 and the noise was so loud that I did no sleep anything on the first night , I was then moved to a new room ( actually the workers private room) on the same floor in the Costanza hotel were the problem also existed existed. The issue in known the the staff. When I complained about the room 205 I was told by the front desk staff that no problem was found , yet when I was given the tour of the room at Costanza hotel, as soon as we walked in the bathroom the noise started in the pipes and the front desk worker nervously made a dash to the sink faucet and open it at which point the noice stopped! The only thing that made this bearable was that this room was bigger and the door was better at insulating the noise ( room 205 had a sliding door) so the noise sounded as if someone was sleeping in the next room and was snoring heavily.

We had booked this hotel in particular due to the central location and affordability. It is not a regular hotel but rather an apartel with rooms and located on the second floor of an older building. Rooms well furnished and bathroom usable but probably needs refurbishing. Rooms facing the street are subjected to the noice from a busy street all day and night long. The reception is not open 24/7 but accessible outside hours by keys. The service was friendly and accommodating

We stayed 3 nights in this "Hotel" which is not a Hotel. It's a "kind" of B&B. In fact, in what they call the "Hall" which is actually a corridor with armchairs, there isn't even an external bathroom, in fact upon arrival, while I was waiting for my room to be cleaned, I had to go down to the bar below to be able to pee. Room 208 that was assigned to us was a real nightmare: the smell of mold and stagnant water coming from the windowless bathroom is nauseating, so strong as a smell that it invades the entire room. Inside the bathroom there are no plastic or paper cups to place toothbrushes. Like shampoo and shower gel, plastic sachets are usually used as free samples of the products. The room was very dusty, the duvet on the bed (which luckily we didn't use) was embarrassing. The TV is small and placed so far from the bed that to watch it you need the supplied binoculars. The wardrobe was swinging and we were afraid to put our clothes in it for fear of it falling on us, in fact we left them in the suitcase. In short, the Overlook in the film The Shining is Disneyland in comparison.

The only positive thing is the strategic location for visiting Catania Center. No parking, forced to use uncomfortable and expensive blue lines....... positioned in the middle of the restricted traffic zone without even being able to unload your luggage. Large but poorly maintained rooms with windows overlooking dirty courtyards etc.

Dramatic experience. The hotel has two areas: one more modern and the other decidedly ancient, not to mention old. After having made me sit in the most neglected part of the hotel, I managed to get a room change the next day. My room was huge with no windows that could be opened but with a single window that overlooked an internal cloister with air conditioning machines and kitchen pipes from another hotel. Bad artificial light. Neglected bathroom. In the "Modern" wing the room looked like a 5 star in comparison. Not to go back. Not to mention the price is 70 euros for a double room for single use without breakfast. Dear ladies at the reception who clearly are not the owners

I am not discussing the cleanliness and quality of the rooms, the problem here lies in the care of customers' luggage when they travel at different times. We sent boxes from Palermo to pack our bicycles with backpacks inside. We pedaled and the intent was to then pack it up to send back to the continent at the end of the tour. The courier delivered the package in the courtyard and no one from the Sofia hotel bothered to take care of it, to put a note with the owner's name. Moral on the morning of our. arrival the separate waste collection has recycled the cartons with our. backpacks. We spent almost 100 euros to buy new packaging, without Mr. Uccari, indicated to us as the owner, deigned to intervene or call us for a gesture of courtesy such as keeping the bikes for us for free instead of charging us 60 euros for the deposit while waiting for the courier to collect the vehicles the day after our delivery. departure.
