Premier Inn Cardiff City Centre (Queen Street)

We arrived at Cardiff Central by train, which is 15mins walking to this Premier Inn. It was very welcoming and staff friendly, rooms clean, with as much tea and coffee, which you took from the travellers store at the main entrance. My only gripe is as I have dietary requirements, They couldn't cater for them and had to make do with what was on offer. No gluten free food at night, Only what I would call general burgers, lasagne, steak battered fish and chips. Only veg on offer was peas. In this day and age Hotels need to cater for a variety of people's health conditions. Vegan/vegetarians are not Gluten free or Ibs sufferers or Celiacs. Which are complicated problems. It would be helpful if they offered something which could be adapted. .

Convenience areas, nice staff and services

I love this hotel as it is right in the city centre and close to Queen Street station which is handy for me to get around. The staff are extremely friendly and ready to answer questions about the hotel and the surrounding area. An ideal place to stop when visiting for a few days.

I thought that the hotel location was pretty good and we found it easily enough. The access ramp was a bit dark after sunset but we found it manageable. Check in was very strict and my wife and i didn't feel welcome because we were early. We were told that if we wanted top check in at 1415 instead of 1500 it would cost us £15. We declined and sat in the bar instead. Unfortunately once sat down we noticed an odd odour which seemed to be coming from a nearby corner. I don't know what it was but it didn't smell like anything fragrant. Despite this inauspicious start and the fact that there seemed to be a number of staff hanging around talking, when we eventually got to the room it was very nice. I liked the Premier Plus room very much, especially the large walk in shower in the bathroom. A bleach stain near the bathroom door wasn't a major issue for either of us as these things happen. Due to the smell in The Social (bar area), neither my wife or myself wanted to return there for a drink in the evening. However, overall the stay was decent enough, if not outstanding.

A great location to stay for being in the heart of Cardiff for the shops and attractions. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good food. Very comfortable bed.A fully accessible room that suited our needs. A few tiny niggles: Shower curtain looked grubby, dust and cobwebs in the room , the air conditioning was noisy due to worn bearings ( I’m married to an engineer) but nothing terrible. Some guests were evidently smoking exotic tobacco which we and other guests noticed when using the lifts. Not very nice for young families with children, or indeed anyone. You can’t open windows for fresh air, so it was a relief to either get outside or into our room to get away from the stench.
