We came back to Schgaguler Hotel in Castelrotto for the second time – this time with our whole family, and we stayed for an entire week in one of their beautiful two-story maisonette suites. From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming home. The hotel’s style is exactly what we love – a perfect balance of elegant minimalism and warm wooden tones. Every corner is thoughtfully designed, and the entire atmosphere invites you to slow down and enjoy. The bar is, without exaggeration, the most beautiful hotel bar I’ve ever seen – both in design and in spirit. Dinner is a daily highlight: fine à la carte dining with a carefully curated five-course menu in the evening. The quality of the food is outstanding, and the service is even better. A huge part of what makes Schgaguler so special is the people. Peter, Nikola, and Andrea run the bar like true artists – their cocktails are excellent, and their warmth makes every drink taste even better. Claudia and Amire make every dinner service a joy with their attention to detail and genuine kindness. And Simon at the front desk is your go-to person for unforgettable hikes and insider tips in the Dolomites. And above it all is Sandra – the heart and soul of the hotel. She’s the perfect host: warm, present, and always two steps ahead to make sure everything runs flawlessly. Schgaguler is our feel-good place. Stylish, calm, and full of soul. We’ll definitely be back – again and again. Top, top, top!

We chose this as a luxury break while in the Dolomites, and what an amazing place it is. We had one of the 'lesser' apartments- I can only imagine what the hotel rooms and suites were like. We also chose the half-board option, which had phenomenal food. The service was magnificent, the furniture and fitting top class, and the views beyond expectation. We hope to get back there again one day.

Our entire stay here was beyond phenomenal. The location was top notch; we are a very active couple that spends a lot of time mountain biking and trail running in the US, so it was important for us to have access to that here. The Alpe nearby was gorgeous and so much fun! The front desk staff was helpful, kind, and all around impeccable. The same goes for everyone that helped us, the folks at breakfast or the bartenders, everyone was top tier. The food was great, we did breakfast every morning and dinner one night, and everything was yummy. The drinks at the bar were very well done, and the pastry hour was fun and yummy! My husband had a biking accident while we were there and couldn't walk much, and they were so helpful and caring with everything we needed. 15/10 recommend. The rooms were cozy clean and modern, and we loved every second.

This is the most fabulous hotel! The architecture is stunning. The rooms are beautiful and we think all have balconies and magnificent views of the dolomites - from very large windows. We had half board which included breakfast and dinner. The food was outstanding. Five course dinners and delicious breakfasts, made to order. The staff was the best we’ve ever had in a hotel. With particular hats off to those in the reception area, dining room, and spa. We especially liked the friendly and helpful somellier at dinner. And we had wonderful massages there and enjoyed the indoor whirlpool.

We spent four days over Easter weekend at Schgaguler Hotel and found a mini-vacation full of incredible relaxation, gourmet indulgence, and modern design. The structure itself is beautifully understated, with spectacular large-scale photographs by Martin Schgaguler, and luxurious yet relaxed decor throughout the rooms and the common spaces. The staff is phenomenal - whether it was the timely follow-up from reception during booking, or the exceptional treatments in the spa, every interaction was warm and professional. We opted for half-board and it was definitely the right choice. Not only did it make for a very relaxing stay (rolling from our massages to our rooms to the dinner table), the food was also phenomenal - always healthy, high-quality, and beautifully presented. In four days we rarely strayed far from the hotel, but with such a welcoming home base, there was simply no need to. Highly recommend!

We recently visited the Shcgaguler Hotel in Castelrotto, Italy after our daughter had raved about her experience there, and every aspect of our stay was superlative! The hotel is family owned and operated and was built in 2018 on property that had been in the family for many years. The design and execution of the build was flawless. The vibe is very Scandinavian, with warm chestnut everywhere, exquisite yet very subtle lighting, poured resin flooring, and plenty of glass. Fabulous fitness center, indoor pool and spa as well as an outdoor hot-tub, saunas, etc, etc. Every inch of it was spotless, and it all felt brand new. Furthermore, having designed, built, and furnished a similar-vibe home in Nashville, we were keenly aware of how much was spent on the myriad of furnishings, lighting, décor, and other details … it was all top-notch and a VERY expensive renovation! The Area: The setting in Castelrotto and surrounding villages is nothing short of spectacular. If you have never been to The Dolomites/South Tyrol, you simply MUST visit. The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the entire area offers a quintessential Alps experience ... adorable buildings (some dating back to the 13th century), lush green fields, tinkling cow bells in every pasture, vineyards, apple orchards, and berry farms on hillsides throughout the area, rich dark forests above, and awe inspiring mountains rising in every direction. Having spent time in the Rockies, I thought I knew what mountains were, but I was fully unprepared for the breath taking scenery in every direction. THESE are mountains! The driving is very easy and so enjoyable. We visited in mid-October, and the weather was lovely (sunny and 60s/70s) every day. The hiking experience in The Dolomites is unparalleled, and I imagine the skiing is as well. An equally important/appreciated aspect of the area is that it does not feel like a tourist destination. It clearly is, as the vast majority of buildings are small hotels and restaurants, but you don’t feel at all that you are in a tourist area. The whole area is so incredibly authentic and you feel as though you’ve stepped into The Sound Of Music (I know … Austria, not Italy) The Food: We purchased a half board plan which included breakfast and dinner. This proved to be a perfect choice as it allowed us to fuel up in the morning, head out for a day of hiking and exploring, return to the hotel for a drink and/or some spa/hot tub time on the deck (with majestic views all around) and then enjoy THE MOST amazing dinner experience. The dining room offers floor to ceiling glass overlooking bold mountains and a quint village. The five course dinner menu was different every evening, offering several choices for each course, and the preparation, focus on local ingredients, attention to detail, and presentation was off the chart. The food was outrageous … including local porcini raviolis, Octopus ragu, exquisite home made pastas and local salads, as well as a

Fantastic family-owned hotel in an ideal location within The Dolomites. Minimalist modern rooms. Beautiful bathroom and lovely modern touches. Staff exceptional. Breakfast and evening meals could not be faulted. We also thoroughly enjoyed and relaxed in the spa facilities. Free underground secure parking.

A wonderful hotel. Fine design, great flavors, calm atmosphere, excellent service, clean rooms. We would like to recognize the staff- they were sensitive and kind. Bottom line, if we return to the Dolomote - we will come again that is thanks to an unforgettable customer experience.
