Felt like Ojai when we came through the grand doors , quaint cottage feel, perfect pool Day..the bar area is lovely, AC worked great in our room, we could wash a few things and lay them to dry.. it was a bit of hike off and then back to the Camino..but sooo worth it ! Would’ve loved to have just stayed forever. Thank you Vanessa for your hospitality .. love to return here..it’s a special place tucked away ..absolutely gorgeous .

The grounds are beautiful! It is quite a ways off the Camino, in case you are walking it. Entering the facilities is awkward because of the gate and waiting to be let in or out of the grounds.
Our room was very hot and the air conditioner was incredibly noisy and not effective. My husband ended up sleeping on a mattress in the other room to avoid the noise! But he was still too hot. We tried to pay for the "honor" bar beer at the time we had it but were told to pay in the morning, which ended up in a delay in starting our day.
Their tip for eating at the Brazilian restaurant nearby was a good one! Breakfast was good, just a little too quiet and overly formal compared to other nice hotels on the Camino.
Everything was more formal and less organized than we would have liked. Probably wouldn't stay here again. Such a shame since this was the one hotel (of 13!) I was most looking forward to!

We stayed here while walking the Coastal Camino and it was the best lodging and breakfast we experienced in those 20 days. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were great and soaking our sore feet in the pool while enjoying a cold drink made our day. Our breakfast the next morning was the best! One of our group fell ill and the staff helped her seek medical assistance and a taxi to our next hotel. Do not miss this place!

Wonderful stay with fantastic owner and staff. The rooms were so comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Six of us were hiking the Camino when one of us became ill. Fatima, the owner, and Vanessa could not do enough to help us find excellent health care. They worked with Portugal Greenwalks, our trip planner and recommended we go to a private hospital in Viana do Castelo since we only spoke English. Vanessa arranged for a taxi to take us there where excellent treatment was provided. We highly recommend this hotel!

This was our family’s 2nd stay at this wonderful quinta, located in the lovely Castelo do Nieva with its excellent restaurants and gorgeous beach. The staff at the quinta are friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the main house on this occasion, and the rooms were spacious and spotless. We were fortunate to have a private lounge area between our rooms which gave us space to come together and play card games etc. The gardens at the Quinta are beautifully kept and there are ample places to sit and relax outside. The games room is fantastic if the weather is inclement. The breakfast has a vast selection of fruits, breads, cheeses and meats as well as hot offerings. It is quite the feast and served in the grandest dining room. We are already planning our next stay at Quinta do Monteverde.

Stunningly beautiful 15th century manor with immaculate gardens, decor, pool and surroundings. During our stay it was quiet, relaxing and simply beautiful. Our room had an ocean view which added great value. The staff were helpful and most things were at your fingertips. If you value history and beautiful things it’s a must.

A historic house from the 15c, beautifully maintained and restored (ask the proprietor about the renovation of the lower floor!) with magnificent grounds and facilities and all the trimmings plus a great breakfast. Ask for advice on the best seafood restaurants. I give it 10/5. - never bettered in our travels through Portugal.

We stayed there for one night on our Caminho de Santiago. Although it looked nice on the pictures, seeing it in real exceeded our expectations. This has been a family home for hundreds of years, now opened as a hotel. Elegant decor tells the hundreds year long family story. Attention to detail is remarkable, from tableware to colour of towels in bathrooms by the pool. Bar is very well stocked up and breakfast is fantastic. Smell of fresh apple pie welcomes you to the breakfast room with an option to have it outside under the wine leaves. Real paradise not to be missed.
