Nice location , but so many negatives . It starts with the photos on the web site , that picture of the lake with the large granite face is not even on site , it's a mile up the road. The units are 1970s dated & they are split units , so if you get a 1 bed suit , it's in the front door and down the steps under the 2 bed unit . The disclaimers that the frontdesk rattled off were ridiculous , we don't manage this & we don't manage that . Bs , your name is on the front sign, so you have a say in it . We were there during the rains that lead up to hurricane Helaena , no one came to or called us to advice us of the rising water at the stream that basically traps you in , thankfully we left at 4am when we could still get out , water at that point was 18 to 24 inches high driving thru . Condition of the unit was sad , don't tell me to call maintenance if I have an issue , do your damn job , walk the units and get crap fixed before people arrive . Very discussed with the entire trip

Our family had a wonderful time at Sapphire Valley Resort. The condo was clean and all the amenties you could need. We loved the wood burning fireplace and just how relaxing it was! The beds were so comfy and the black out drapes made you want to sleep the entire day away. At the rec center the indoor hot tubs and wet sauna were a hit! We also enjoyed the table tennis and mini golf! The location is wonderful if you are interested in exploring nearby waterfalls! In our opinion the Skiing was not worth the expense but there is so much more to do you wont miss it! We look forward to returning in the future.

It was a nice stay... unit backed up on a small forest and deer wandered through one day. Good proximity to Highlands and other small towns. Nice for a get-away, kick-back week! The only drawback was that the unit was on two levels... got a lot of stair climbing in during the week.

The Sapphire Valley area and the Western North Carolina mountains are a bucket list destination if you love the outdoors. The mountains really do "call you home." The area offers opportunities for new adventures each day of the week. There is something different to do every day. The views from the boathouse at Lake Fairfield are amazing. Take a bottle of wine and sit on the beach or the deck area watching the sun set and it will suck you in and force you to relax. We found this to be true of numerous publicly accessible areas. The waterfalls in the area are magnificent. There are hiking trails for every level of experience. The roads leading up to the mountains are winding single lanes roads with a series of switchback turns that make it a blast to drive if our are an adventurous driver. The drive offers endless spectacular views. We are Wyndham Vacation owners and we have stayed on this property numerous times over the years. The property is an older resort and it is pretty well maintained. However, it does need some TLC and updating. Not a ding, just an observation. This location's decor is rooted in the rustic mountain genre. However, unlike most Wyndham timeshares it presents as if it is still caught in the late 1980s or early 1990s era. The kitchens, TVs, and IT items are modern and worked great for us. We have stayed in other units in the past and we have found that that the kitchens present with everything one will need if you elect to cook/eat in. Our stay on this occasion was in a 1-BR lock-off in a "suite" type unit. Read on.... The beds were conformable. We slept well. The only knock on the sleeping arrangements is that we found that the only units that offer a king size bed are the 1-BR suite section of the 2-BR lock-off units. The suite is the lower unit of the lock off. If you book the lower unit lock-off suite be aware that the layout is peculiar and has very limited daylight due to layout and window placement. The upper seating area has a window and the bedroom has a walk-out slider to a small balcony. That is about it for direct views to the outside. The kitchen and eat in area is on the interior aspect of the unit and looks through a window into the soaking tub which in turn has a picture window exposed to the outdoors. We found this to be odd. In the same lower unit unit, the Pullman kitchen offers very little food preparation and cooking areas and no oven of any kind. The two burner cook top was small and we found this to be a detractor. Your cooking choices are limited to either boiling or frying (or using the charcoal grills, no gas grills on the site). The bathroom in this unit is a good size. However, that said and fair warning, if you are a person of large diameter girth you may have an issue fitting into the shower stall. The shower stall is approximate 32" x 36". We found the shower to be a squeeze and we are both under average weight with athletic build body types. If you book

We are Wyndham owners. Although our vacation was booked months in advance, we received no confirmation letter as is customary with Wyndham. After a 10 hour drive to the resort, we arrived at the address 70 Sapphire Blvd which turned out the be Wynham Resorts Mountain Laurel Villas. We were directed to return to Hilton Grand Vacations/Fairways Forest at 3077 Hwy 64E. There is no mention of Wyndham at this place. They have “inventory” at this location. This was quite confusing and unnecessarily time consuming. I appreciated Tammy’s patience. On the posittive side, our one bedroom deluxe accommodations were newly refurbished and beautiful. I woukd think twice about renting here if I were a parent as the Rec Center, the lake etc. are quite a distance from the lodgings and require transportation. The power was out at much of the resort today closing both the rec center and Sapphire Mountain Brewery on the property.

The unit we stayed in was interesting in that you enter from the top and take stairs down into the living space. We were next to the ski resort that is easily walkable. We saw the snowmakers from our window and went to explore. We did not make use of the facilities, but did some hiking in the area before we traveled on.
