Villa Welwitshia

We have just returned from our third consecutive visit to the amazing Villa Welwitshia in beautiful Carvoeiro. From the moment you arrive, you will be welcomed by the hosts and Isa and her team will welcome you with open arms and a friendly smile. The apartments are comfortable and perfectly located for easy access to the pool and breakfast room. Our bedroom was a 10 step walk to the poolside and meant access was easy and quick. The rooms are very clean and towels replaced every day. The shower is large and bathroom is well maintained with lots of room to move and clean towels issued daily. The beds are large and access to air conditioning and the TV is great with lots of channels to watch while relaxing. Fridge is handy with water replaced each day, which is a great help. Breakfast is a friendly and relaxed affair, with a coffee machine and a continental breakfast available for all including cheeses, hams, fruit and pastries with an added bonus of eggs available - freshly made to order by the host. All in all a tasty and happy experience well-maintained levels of food experiences all set overlooking the swimming pool and patio area. As far as location, you won’t be disappointed- views overlooking Carvoeiro, a local and welcoming restaurant 50 yards away with delicious Portuguese food. The bars, dozens of amazing restaurants are 200 metres away and the gorgeous sandy beach and stunning boardwalk views, around a 5-10 minute walk. There are a few hills to negotiate which ever way you walk, but nothing too steep for able bodied people. Isa and her team are all welcoming, helpful and friendly with advice and guidance for the next restaurants to visit depending on your palate. There are books to read from the book exchange area so you’ll not need to bring one if you don’t have the luggage space! You will arrive as a stranger, but leave as a friend and will almost certainly want to return again and again - with almost 90 bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk, you will need to!

This small villa is in a great location. You can easily walk to town and to see the beautiful cliffs. Isabella, the property owner, was a delight and offered great information about the area and things to do. Our stay included a good breakfast to get our day started. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location with easy walking access to all. Theres a delicious inexpensive restaurant right across the street. Other restaurants you can walk to as well, and the town is perfect and not too crowded and overrun, like some of the other Algarve areas. The beach and Algar Seco are approx 10minutes walk away. The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. the room has an air conditioning unit. Very nice terrace just outside the room. The room is Nicely updated and attractive looking. It was a quiet. It had a nice looking pool although we didnt use it. The area is safe and the building is quiet as well. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a small problem with the toilet and it was fixed by the time we returned that day! Plenty parking spots. We would definitely stay here again.

This property is a family run, small and pleasant place to stay. Our room was a very good size with a balcony overlooking a green space. There is good air conditioning, a separate space from the sleeping area to sit and watch TV with small fridge and a kettle. Beds were reasonably comfortable and the bathroom was small but with a reasonably good sized shower with good hot water. The room and linen was clean but the bathroom was a bit ‘tired’ and unfortunately towels to match (they were thin and threadbare but were replaced daily). The poor area was simple but nice and clean. Breakfast had some variety and was nice enough although their coffee was from a self-serve machine that wasn’t that good. Location was excellent just a 5 minute walk down the hill to the centre of town. On site parking provided.

Beautifully kept property and perfect accompaniment to the "beach vibe" of the Algarve. Spacious room featuring two bedrooms and a small sitting room. Perfect for two couples or a family of four. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the proprietors took a personal interest in your comfort and making sure you had everything you needed for a wonderful experience. If you wanted to stay close to the hotel rather than go into town, the property boasted a clean, glistening and quiet pool.

Truly baffled by the reviews on here....?! This place is not 'boutique' by any shape of the imagination. Its a very basic premises on the top of a hill above the town. Our room had a shower with dirty grout, a broken patio door and a TV that didnt work. Raised them with reception but nothing done. Infact the broken patio door report was answered with 'its not a problem'. We travel a lot and we were so disappointed especially after reading the reviews. The many that have one word comments such as 'fabulous' and 'excellent' are very dubious to me. Such was our disappointment that we left the very next morning, during a 3 night stay and obviously lost £200 we had paid for the remaining 2 nights. On leaving I said to reception that we were leaving early due to issues and the reply was 'okay bye'. If you have very low expectations, then this place is for you.
