Nammbú Bungalows looks like a Condé Nast destination hotel on the outside, but it’s in need of some serious love on the inside. The good: Lovely ocean view from the room, hammock on the private porch, large room with good a/c. Well stocked breakfast bar, friendly wait staff The bad: almost getting run over by golf carts 3 times the first day- the only path to the rooms is exactly the size for a golf cart- when staff comes zooming down, they expect you to jump out of the way onto the grass- they don’t really slow down for you and only one acknowledged us with a thank you. Nowhere to hang clothes, or even towels. You may think this is not a big deal, but the attraction here is the beach and pool - meaning wet suits. It’s very hot and humid- you will have wet clothes and really nowhere to hang them. The shower pan in our room (402) was incorrectly installed so the water does. It ever completely drain from the shower. There is no fan in the bathroom- so it’s always wet. There is a large flat screen TV- but no comfortable place to watch it. You can’t see it from the bed. One person could sit on the couch, but there are no pillows, so if you sit with someone their back will lean on the wall. Wi-Fi is slow. The safe is too small to hold the very expensive camera you don’t want to take to the beach. Front desk staff minimally friendly. Charging for water at the table- I said tap was fine. The server said the water from the kitchen was no good…..um, you mean the water they are using to cook my food??? So we paid $3 for a bottle of water. Not the end of the world, but really! The ugly: dirty room. Sheets were clean and floor swept- but a serious amount of mold in the shower and toilet area. Someone’s hair (not ours) clung to the bottom of the toilet for two days. Dust under furniture and on low touch surfaces, glass in restaurant area not cleaned with regularity. We looked at the same greasy handprints for three days by the table where we ate breakfast. So- should you stay here? It depends on you. If you’re in it for a stellar view and don’t mind some grime and having your room wind up looking like a teenager’s bedroom. With clothes strewn everywhere- go for it
