Talbot Hotel Carlow

We recently stayed in the Talbot hotel in Carlow, the evening before attending a wedding in Ballykealy. When booking, I had requested a quiet room , at the end of the corridor if at all possible. A bonus would have been the top floor. The receptionist Tufah was so gracious and welcoming. I was delighted that the hotel had made a note of my request and accommodated me in a room as requested. I appreciate that this isn’t always possible so it was wonderful. As a particularly poor sleeper, it was important to me. I was so happy to be accommodated on the top floor! The room was spotless and spacious. I loved the amount of space in the bathroom, especially in terms of places to put toiletries etc. We dined in the bar and the food was delicious and plentiful.  Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with plenty of choice. I was really impressed with the hotel and left looking forward to a return stay two nights later. Our second stay didn’t disappoint.  Julius on reception assured me of a quiet room- and that is what we got. We arrived quite late in the evening and Martin, the night porter quickly and efficiently checked us in. Our room was a mirror image of the previous stay, and again I slept really well. In the early morning my husband visited the leisure centre and enjoyed his swim. He found the staff to be friendly and helpful. This is something that we really appreciated during our two brief stays- courteous and friendly staff who excel at their job. We both look forward to staying there again in the future. 😊

Brilliant staff and food, pool was just ok Staff and service was great the down fall was the small family rooms with one small window that could not open the full way there was a fan in the room but didn’t really help with the heat.the pool is very small no kids pool as advertised, there is a fitness class on every morning from 9-10 am which take over the pool but guest are not informed of this before hand which means guests can’t really access the pool till after 10 am and are left waiting at the side of the pool if you don’t know this. Lockers in dressing rooms were broken was had to find one that locked.

The Talbot Hotel. Carlow. Stayed here one night for a family wedding celebration. Very comfortable one night stay. Good breakfast choice.

Handle fell of my room door as I entered it. In all fairness to the staff they went above a beyond after I reported it, they got me a new room, restaurant was very good staff were brilliant. Will stay here again when in the area.

The hotel staff were great, there were some maintenance issues in both rooms i stayed in room 309, the toilet pan is badly stained with lime scale and the faucet is loose on the vanity unit, Room 108 - the toilet pan is loose from the mounting bracket in the wall and the wall tiles have cracked because of that
