I cannot say enough good things about this lodge! The food is different every meal and every meal is exceptional. I definitely recommend getting the full board option because you do not want to miss it. The staff are lovely and go out of their way to help with any requests (I did not have my own transport). The cabins have wood and mesh walls so it took a night to get used to the sounds but what an experience. They are clean and well positioned so you are in the middle of nature with nothing else around you. The trails are well maintained and beautiful. Everything was perfect and I loved every minute!

With its remote location, rustic simplicity, beautiful surroundings and relaxed vibe, this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The grounds, gardens and ponds are wonderful, and the bird watching remarkable. The food is very good and the staff friendly and helpful. We loved the chocolate tour given by Michael, a very pleasant and engaging member of staff. Our cabin had a beautiful view of the hills of Carara National Park. The lack of air conditioning meant that our cabin could get very hot, but it cooled down considerably in the night.

We should have stayed another night. Lovely room. Good trails waterfall and wildlife. The night hike was an incredible way to see a lot of wildlife, we say over 12 species of frogs, and the natural spa was a highlight. Fantastic breakfast. Professional and courteous staff.

Lovely place to stay for a night or two. Wonderful grounds, with lots of birds and frogs. Staff very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Limited menu but then it is all home cooked from farm produce and was well cooked and tasty. Very limited alcohol range ( wine and beer only - a gin would have been nice) Top tip : check with the lodge which road to take . We approached from the south and the first road was in very poor condition( I think the 319). When we left we used the road to the north of the lodge which was much better

Nice place in the middle of beautiful nature and the rainforest. We stayed in a standard bungalow which was nice and very nice view from the balcony. Excellent staff. Everyone was nice and helpful. We had full board and the food was delicious. From the restaurant you have a beautiful view of the garden, and can watch birds and other animals.

We had an incredible time during our stay! Maicol was the BEST host we could ask for - he was kind, attentive and very thorough. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. When the rains altered our plans and we were nervous, Maicol took the time to talk us through everything - even staying late to draw us a map in case our directions were not clear. He followed up the day after we left to make sure we arrived to our next destination safely. We felt very well taken care of! The views are spectacular! It was an unforgettable experience wake up to that kind of beauty. The food was incredible - so fresh and very esthetically pleasing. We had the pleasure of doing a bird watching tour with Andrés. He was amazing! He was very thorough and followed up with a guide so we could remember what we had seen. He may have made a birdwatcher out of me! When our plans changed, he stepped in to take us on the Chocolate Factory tour. Incredible!!! We learned so much and the chocolate was delicious!! Our only regret was running out of time to buy some to take home. We are still talking about it! Staying at Macaw Lodge is an experience I will always remember. Thank you to all the staff who helped make it so special!

Can highly recommend this Lodge👍 Superb surroundings- nestled in a private reserve, where you will experience amazing Cabinas, really good home cooked food (also for vegetarians), stunning nature, exquisite for bird watching. There are self guided trails into the rainforest and around the property, where they also grow cocoa and make their own - really tasteful - chocolate😋..the owners have worked years to replant the area with endemic trees and plants, and now the place is filled with life again. It’s a super wonderful place - absolute tranquil, a little piece of Paradise on earth, where people are extremely devoted to protect the nature and the wildlife🙏 Here you also find Yoga decks. Super friendly staff and a place you hesitate to leave again, as everything is perfect🙏
