The hotel is nice but it doesn't deserve the stars it has. In my opinion, it needs a general update. The hallways leading to the rooms look dark and old. The rooms are spacious. The bathroom needs renovation, the light gives an unwelcoming tone and the bathtub is a danger, it is difficult to access and very slippery. The sink drain did not drain well. There are soap dispensers at the sink and in the bathtub. The bed is not uncomfortable but the pillows are, although there are a couple more in the closet. The room we had had a sofa and a table with two chairs. The upholstery of the chairs has stains and so does the sofa. Even so, the cleanliness of the hotel in general is excellent, everything is very clean. The hotel has a cleaning policy in which they do not come to clean the room unless you ask. For every day that the room is not cleaned, they give you a discount of €3 (per room) to consume at the bar. In the room there is a Nespresso and tea, but if you consume it it has a cost. There is a refrigerator too. The spa area is very old. It is actually an indoor heated pool and two mini saunas. The gym machines and equipment are very old. Despite what I have read in other comments, I consider the quality of the food to be good. In my opinion, there is a variety of breakfast: there is sausage, eggs, bacon, scrambled eggs, cut fruit, cereals, skimmed milk, whole milk, almond milk, lactose-free. Four Nespressos, another coffee machine and a juice machine. There are teas, cocoa powder and a variety of different breads, 4 or 5 different types of jam, a huge jar of Nutella, as well as different types of cakes and pastries every day. In addition, there is also fresh cheese (delicious by the way), tomato and lettuce, yogurt,... well, whoever says there is no variety, I don't know what else they need for breakfast... For dinner, there is the option of doing it in the restaurant itself (where breakfast is served and you have to reserve) or in the bar area. Of course, the cards are different. There is a recreation area next to reception, with a chess table, billiards and table football. It has free outdoor parking. The hotel's strong point is undoubtedly its staff. They are all charming, they always have a smile for the guest, and that is appreciated. They always try to understand you and help you. The location of the hotel is good for visiting the island. It is just 20 minutes by car from Ponta Delgada. The town is quiet and has bars, a supermarket and a gas station. In short, although it needs renovation, it is not a bad hotel.
