Duikersdrift Winelands Country Escape

We arrived slightly later than anticipated, and it was no problem for the owners to accommodate us. Kim communicated with us during the course of the day, which we liked. The stay was wonderful, with excellent facilities. There was also a private, woodfired warm tub available for us to use.

My husband and I found Duikersdrift as we were looking for a new parkrun to do on our visit from the UK and wanted a nice relaxing place to stay for a couple of days. The photos on the website looked too good to be true but when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that it really is that beautiful. We were greeted at check-in by the lovely Howard who immediately made us feel at home. Everything has been so well thought out. We stayed in cottage 3 (of 4). It felt like the cottages had been cleverly and carefully placed to provide stunning views. Outside spaces with total privacy - even private paths to the pool where we also enjoyed lazing on the loungers, thoughtfully undercover. The layout of the cottage felt spacious but had everything you could need and more. Breakfast was delivered to the cottage so we could enjoy it on our private patio while boring each other with endless comments about the incredible view. We had the pleasure of meeting our excellent hosts, Justin and Kim, at the onsite parkrun on our first morning, so friendly and really made us feel welcome. It was a treat to bump into Justin over the couple of days a few more times and learn more about the estate. I believe the onsite restaurant, Daphne’s, is run as a separate business but it’s also excellent. We sat outside and had such a good experience and also enjoyed a post parkrun delicious coffee. We loved it so much that we returned the next night (which is something we never do!). The manager (I assume, sorry didn’t get his name) was so friendly and helpful, offering advice on where we could visit in the local area. We cannot wait to come back - although part of us wants to keep this hidden treasure a secret, we’ll be recommending Duikersdrift as a fantastic place to stay

If you want to escape the city and the mundane, and just go rest, breathe fresh air, and be close to nature, this is a perfect hide-away. 4 beautiful, elegant with the basic luxury, and sleep in the most amaising beds, this is the place to be!!! Privacy, friendlynes and Justin and Kim was so professional!! Restaurant on the farm, with great dishes, at reasoble price. We cannot wait to go back for winter! Summer was pure magic and joy! Highly recommended!!!

We spent a lovely 3 days at Duikersdrift, the hosts Justin and Kim were very welcoming and attentive. Our cottage had everything we needed, great attention to detail and nicely furnished. Good restaurant on site too, and the picnic is not to be missed. We shall be back!

Been to this location a few times over the years when we have had time fir a short break during visits. Accomodation is first class and the views in the morning from the panoramic window makes all your worries vanish. You can walk around the extensive grounds and view the donkeys, horses, cows and fowl. The farm also grows vines and olives and their produce is for sale on site. The breakfast is excellent and they have a restaurant onsite which has an inviting menu. Tulbagh is a lovely area with several renowned wine farms, nice historical town, good walks and community spirit.

Cottage was disappointing. The photos give you a different impression. Breakfast was mediocre and took a very long time, despite the fact that you have to indicate the day before what kind of breakfast you want. One day we were the only guests and the next day 2 tables were occupied for breakfast. So it wasn't busy at all. Although you book the accommodation including breakfast, we got the feeling that this was actually difficult for them. Restaurant was closed for dinner but on special request they wanted to cook for you. We went elsewhere for dinner.
