Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is a league of it's own. Our driver picked us up from Cape Town and it took about 2 and a half hours to reach the gate of Sanbona
From the gate to our glamping tents was another 90 mins drive into an expansive dessert - 62,000 hectares
We got real lucky and saw Lionesses, Cheetah, Giraffes, Hippos, Rhinos, Baboons, Elephants etc. Our Guide Joe was absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable
The glamping tents were so spacious, connecting you right back to nature with outdoor showers, jacuzzi etc
Our meals were fantastic, and they can accommodate to most dietary restrictions. We ended up trying both the Springbok, Kudu, Hake, Kingklip - all local delicacies
Love how South African wines were included in our full board experience allowing us to sample Bruts, Rosé and even their Pinotage
We ended the evening stargazing as usual, this time being able to see both the Southern and Northern Hemispheree

Sanbona is one of the best experiences we have ever had as a family ! The lodges (we stayed in Dwyka Lodges) were absolutely lovely, private rooms (we had a double and our 2 grown up sons had a twin) each with balconies and plunge pools. Cleaned daily and turned down at night ready for bed after a tiring safari drive ! Food was top class with plenty of choices all cooked to order - and they catered for my Gluten Free needs. Safaris each morning and evening were excellent - our guide Jaylee was very knowledgeable and friendly and spotted things we hadnt even noticed ! The reserve is massive and the scenary is spectacular - even before you start to mention the animals ! All of the staff were fantastic from the lodge managers, Boma staff, maids, guides, chef, you name it they were all lovely people and all excellent at their jobs. Sanbona is highly recommended and I cant wait to return. One of the best places on earth :-)

Sanbona was a magical experience. The Gondwana Lodge was a beautiful, peaceful and tasteful place to stay. The food was fabulous. The service outstanding. We saw lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs and many other animals up close. Not in large numbers as you might see in other safari parks, but you do not have the number of jeeps vying for position that you may find in other parks. This is a more custom, curated experience. It was a memorable experience that made a lasting impression on our 10 year old son. It is a great place to bring your kids.

From the initial bus ride from the reception point to the arrival at the Dwyka tented lodge (absolutely stunning accommodation) to the food, drink, superb staff and service to the Safari guide who went above and beyond to find us sightings that we could only have hoped for (ask for Josh, I’m sure they’re all good) I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat Thank you Sanbona

Very friendly and courteous staff. Experienced and friendly guide on game drive. Very large reserve. Would come again at any time. Our only regret that we could not book the Dwyka Tented Lodge with a child.

My second time staying at Sanbona. Had a wonderful 3 night stay at Dwyka Tented Lodge. Friendly staff and they all went out their way to make my stay special and then the informative game drives I had with my guide Nicole S and sightings were incredible, the reason why I go to the Reserves. The highlight was the female Cheeta approach on foot which was lead by my guide Nicole S and Marco. Thank you everyone for making my stay memorable

We truly had the best experience ever at Dwyka Tented Lodge. The whole staff is amazing and the services provided are top of their class. The food is incredible. The massages were amazing. The room was huge, super clean and comfortable. Our guide Nicole truly was the best. We spent great game drives with her and our little group. She truly is passionate about her job, respectful and understanding about the animals. She has amazing knowledge about the all kind of species (animals, birds, plants, etc) We spent a wonderful time there, would definitely go back and recommend without any hesitation.
