We stayed as a couple in a private room and this was spacious and comfortable. Huge bed, Netflix and a walk in shower. The breakfast was a lovely offering and the hosts were so helpful and friendly. The place felt really inclusive and I’d visit again as a solo female traveller without hesitation. Location wise, we found to be good. We hired a car so location was less important but it’s around 15 minutes down hill to V&A and 15 uphill to Bo Kaap walking. Hostel had private parking too. Taxis are so cheap so getting around is pretty easy.

I stayed for four nights in the mixed dorm while traveling solo. The room exceeded my expectations, with a comfy bed (much better than you’d expect in a hostel), an en-suite bathroom, and only three beds. Towels are provided for free, and the room is tidied up daily. Breakfast is also available if you don’t feel like cooking your own (which you can do). The common areas are fantastic—breakfast room, TV room, study room, garden, and swimming pool. A massive added value is the staff, who make you feel like part of a big family and take great care of you. Thumbs up for the activities and excursions you can book through the hostel as well! I also enjoyed the diverse mix of guests, with people of all ages. The area is fine, just few steps away from the sea promenade.

We had a lovely 6nt stay recently in one of the private rooms. We really enjoyed the hostel’s location, facilities and breakfast. The group chat that you are encouraged to join on arrival is a great idea too. And the whole team could not have been more friendly and welcoming. In terms of improvements, the WiFi in our room was pretty patchy, the water pressure in the bathroom sink was terrible and it wasn’t really made clear to us that the beach towel rental was R100 per towel – pretty crazy for South Africa! They did take all these bits of feedback on board, though. Would definitely consider staying again in the future.

Simple. The best backpackers on planet earth! Perfect for a solo traveller. Gorgeous rooms, amazing staff who can’t do enough to help you plan. And delicious breakfasts! Stayed for 10 nights but could have stayed for ever! Highly recommend.

A seriously awesome hostel. Traveled with my partner, stayed for 5 nights in a private room (The Room That Everybody Wants). Room was fantastic. Staff were brilliant (a special shout-out to Manthole). Daily breakfast around the communal tablet was great. The staff were super helpful with anything required at all. The hostel is also very well located to get to anywhere you need to go in Cape Town

If you are a solo traveler, look no further: good vibes, super clean, awesome breakfast and helpful well informed staff that will make your visit easier. Well located, safe area. Thanks to Melissa’s knowledge, Aloise and John kindness, Mathole’s taste in music I was able to experience a perfect Cape Town stay. Cheers also to all the girls preparing breakfast and keeping the hostel spotless!
