My sister and I had a beautiful experience at the Mt Nelson High Tea, with Cheslyn as our super-star waitress! She was so attentive, had a great sense of humour and truly elevated our experience! The food was sensational, and the versatility and range offered unmatched.

We were at Mount Nelson for high tea. The food on offer was excellent. What we liked best was the friendliness of the staff, from the moment we got out of the taxi until we said goodbye. Popped in for the afternoon tea & first of all, the hotel & grounds are stunning. Serene, beautiful, & makes you not want to leave. The attention to detail, from the decor, artwork, down to the beautiful washrooms is well thought out. The highlight of the high tea for me was the desserts & the service. The tea sommelier and my server of the day Andiswa were great. Would definitely come back.

Noon High Tea at Mount Nelson under the steady hand of an excellent tea sommelier and outstanding service from Thuli is not to be missed. The selection of petit sandwhiches and sweets were so very enjoyable, especially the prawns on brioche was delectable. Welcomed with a nice rose champagne followed by a vast assortment of delectable teas. A walk around the captivating grounds capped off a stellar experience! Enjoy yourselves, we certainly did! ☕️

Set in a central location with a garden that enchants guests with its charming ambiance, the Mount Nelson is spectacularly luxurious delivering a magical atmosphere reflected in a blend of opulence and high quality. We cannot praise the staff and management any higher for being professional and attentive or the amenities on offer including many dining options, bars, activities and sumptuous spa contributing to our exceptional stay. The hotel's cleanliness is impeccable and rooms are beautifully appointed with many surprises delivered throughout the stay which I will not spoil for the benefit of your experience. It's the team's genuine care, putting their heart and soul in their service that differentiates the 'Nellie' from any other hotel that makes it a truly special place that I like to call home. Truth be told, there is no place in the world like the 'Nellie; where one can hike Table Mountain or go to one of Cape Town's beautiful beaches in the morning and be back at the hotel to enjoy a magnificent breakfast and then spend the day relaxing by the pool enjoying time with your family. Thank you Tiago for all that you have done to make this property truly exceptional. Your personality radiates throughout the hotel and your sincerity, passion and kindness is contagious. This once exceptional hotel much loved by International travellers and locals alike, has lost all of its charm and appeal and following a multitude of quite extraordinarily stressful events I cut my stay short after only 5 days. I will spare the readers of this review the horrific way in which I was treated throughout my stay but suffice to say, I will never set foot in this landmark hotel ever again and will never recommend it to anyone I know. The extremely rude and threatening behaviour of the Hotel Manager who accosted me flanked by the Security Manager was the last straw and left me feeling like a criminal. This man should be dismissed and I would be happy to provide further details should the Belmont Global Board feel that they would like to understand the full catalogue of failures that led to me checking out 3 weeks after I was originally intending to.

Never have me and my family stayed in a hotel quite like the Mount Nelson! An experience of a lifetime, every staff member go out of their way for you, above and beyond to make your stay in Cape Town the best you will ever have. A true gem! We visited in early July for 5 nights and had a mixed bag of weather and even the rains couldn’t dampen our stay. The doormen greeted us every day with wide grins and greetings and the attention to detail was second to none! Tshepo, Kennedy, Limdile, Olondo, Pootea were so good with our teenage sons, who had the best craic with them every evening. Michael, guest experience manager, was perfection! A true gentleman who really took an interest in us, catering to our needs sublimely. No request was too big. Dylan was always a cheery face around the hotel offering us anything and making sure we felt at home. Luvo, our breakfast server was always on hand to make our mornings perfect. And when I speak about breakfast, I can’t describe the abundance for the first meal of the day. Never have we been met with a breakfast as plentiful as the breakfast here. There is absolutely nothing you won’t find available… NOTHING! I feel every staff deserves a mention and sadly I don’t know all their names. But if I could name them all, I would. An experience of a lifetime, this hotel is really a home away from home. Their greeting at arrival, “welcome home” sums up this hotel in two perfect words. As I write this, we are on our last night here and all I can say is I don’t want to leave and can’t wait to come back “home”.
