Residence Hotel la Marsu

The hotel staff were not well informed about the daily menus, which lead to misinformed orders that resulted to not being able to eat most of our foods. We order chicken but all the orders came with undercooked pink chicken. We sent it back and neither the waiters or chef apologized or offered us a substitute or refund. All our rooms (4) had no natural light, used soap left in the toilets, the towels were overused and sticks to your skin when used to dry up. The pillows had stains and bedsheets too. We asked for change of sheets, pillows and towels but told the service lady has locked up and gone home till the morning. Again the next day we asked again, nobody came. We had to go get towels ourselves from reception smh. My sister asked for mayonnaise for her bread during breakfast since she doesn’t like butter and ever time they will respond with “it’s finished” when it’s been served during lunch and dinner. Overall, the waiters weren’t as friendly to us as they are with “white customers”. We had to initiate speaking to the staff members, non approach us to ask how we were or if everything is going well. It’s the little things that really made us feel unwelcome during our stay whilst watching white people being treated with extreme friendliness and smiles, getting asked if they needed anything etc.

We came here for New Year weekend with my family from UK and Gambia. We were treated like second class customers when in fact we took more rooms and paid for more services. Initial welcoming was fine the night we arrived up on till the following morning. My sister can’t have butter and we asked for Mayonnaise for her morning breakfast to have with bread but we got constantly told there’s non when it’s being provided during lunch and dinner for other customers. I saw how a white woman asked for cheese which was finished at the breakfast buffet, one staff member went out to the shops to get this for her. There’s literally a shop next door to the hotel. White customers were treated with full attention and friendliness. We get looks from staff and never initiate to speak to us first. Again, the food is not worth the money. This hotel is the only place we got asked how we wanted our chicken cooked, which was bizarre but still responded “well done”. Tell me why the chicken came in pink and the water has no knowledge about steak cuts. He told us it’s a liver steak but a fillet came out. Very strange hotel. The only plus side is the Manager Kisito was extremely friendly and always made sure we were attended to especially with the room issues we had. We will never be returning to this hotel again and I strongly wouldn’t recommend.
