Canyamel Park Hotel & Spa - - Adults Only (+16)

We’ve been visiting Mallorca for over 40 years and were looking for somewhere different for our October holiday. A few google searches and we found Canyamel and Canyamel Park Hotel and Spa - and we’re very glad we did. The hotel is really lovely and kept spotlessly clean. We chose a Suite Privilege, which was amazing - beautifully furnished with tons of storage space, huge comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom. The view to the beach, just across the road through the pines,from one of the two terraces was gorgeous and the daily cleaning of our room was outstanding. Can’t praise the hotel highly enough - the pool area is very attractive with lots of loungers and never busy, even though the hotel was full. The bar area, inside and on the terrace is specially attractive and the restaurant - both food and outstanding staff were a delight. If you want a relaxing holiday in a lovely hotel and a peaceful location - this is for you. With the help of the lovely reception team we’ve booked a return visit for May 25 - that’s how much we enjoyed the hotel.

Very nice clean and cosy place, large modern rooms, and the personnel was always helpful - mind they might speak German and not English since the clientele is mostly from Germany. The neighborhood is mostly hotels and vacation rentals, a few restaurants and a couple of grocery stores. The area is very remote and rural (1h from Palma) very good for relaxing but not the right place if you're looking for nightlife, clubs or even just window shopping. The only downside of my 4 days stay was at the bar. The staff is not properly trained to make cocktails (they probably serve beers and wine mostly) and on top they don't accept criticism and try to make up excuses. Here I had the worst margarita of my life: I asked to make it again (they used mint, and said it was their own concept of margarita - well your own concept recipe's twist was not mentioned in the menu, it said Canyamel Park cocktail = frozen margarita = lime, tequila, triple sec - pretty standard margarita recipe). I didn't even finish it.

Firstly the location is amazing, only 2 minute walk to the beach and we found the restaurants in Canyamel very good. We had a junior selection club room located in the annex building. Upon arrival the room was intensely hot. It would be thoughtful of the hotel if going forward the air conditioning was put on before arrival so the room was cool for arriving guests. It didn’t really cool down on our first night and they had no fans to offer guests. After complaining the engineer was sent out the next morning which after his visit it was better but the coolest was 19c degrees which in my opinion is not really sufficient. The room itself was lovely very spacious and clean with nice toiletries in the bathroom. I did find it a little odd that it is advertised as having tea and coffee making facilities but there were only 2 capsules provided and if you wanted more it was 3 euros (I can’t remember if this was for another 2 or 3). The annex building is a little further than originally thought when booked. It is advertised as being across the road but is actually a 3-4min walk away. This is ok apart from when you have your luggage on first arrival . It would be helpful if the hotel could arrange for someone to help with your luggage. It was also not great on our last morning when a storm hit and we had to run in the rain to breakfast getting completely soaked! Breakfast was good. There was always a nice selection with fresh fruit, continental and hot items. There was a omelette station which also done fresh pancakes. It was busier from 9.15am so I would recommend getting there before if you want a more relaxed breakfast. We had access to 2 swimming pools. The main pool and the sky pool. I cannot comment on the main pool as we didn’t use it as was a little too busy for us. We used the sky pool a couple of times. I will say it’s not like the photos! There were only 7 sunbeds and 3 umbrellas. On our last day 2 of the umbrellas actually broke and they were not replaced. Other than that it was very peaceful up there with amazing views. The pool itself was nice although a little dirty. We spent most of our holiday on the beach. It was lovely down there but the sunbeds and umbrella are 19.50 euros so factor this in to your budget. So the question is would we stay again and I’m not sure. As mentioned before the location is great but with the air conditioning issues (which I heard everyone complaining about) this would put us off.

We were in the junior suite 300m away from main building tucked on the back street The building was nice and fresh but poorly managed, rooftop swimming pool bit dated and dirty. Oddly working aircon and bad pipe smell. No car parking spaces available. Apart from that it was a very nice hotel with good food and ambiance. Nicely kept grounds and quiet main swimming pool. Convienently located near nice beach. The village itself quite boring with lack of entertainment places and good restaurants, hence good food ay the hotel came handy.

Over all the hotel and straff is nice. The hotel is close to a beautiful beach with clear water. So you can choose to stay by the pool or/and swim in the ocean. The cleaning is okey. Could have been better. On the other hand, the cleaning ladies are very welcoming. Always wishing for a good morning and smiling. For celiac disease/ people that cannot eat gluten: the hotel is good at signing the food that is gluten free/ not gluten free. Since it is buffet for dinner the risk of contamination is higher. To solve this the hotel has a table with only gluten free food that felt quite safe. They also have two grills where they serve eggs, omelette and pancakes for breakfast. It happened twice that the staff contaminated the tools used on the gluten free side. For example they made an omelette on the gluten free side and put the omelette directly on a plate with bread (so the gluten free tools touched the bread). When I tried to explain this they didn’t seem to understand. And kept using the tools contamineted with gluten on the side that is supposed to be gluten free. I also was served burger with bread containing gluten in the lounge bar for lunch. Luckily I saw that the bread didn’t look gluten free and asked several times. I gave this feedback to the hotel, and I strongly recommended they talk to their staff about their routines when it come to serving gluten free food. So I hope the knowledge and routines are better after this. The hotel manager told me that it is possible to get the food directly from the kitchen so it is not contaminated with anything.

This hotel is great! Good service, friendly staff and the food was excellent. The staff were very attentive and acted quickly when we reported our TV was not working. Definitely recommend this hotel. The only thing that I have to say that would need looking at is creating a multi cultural environment for those who are not of German or Dutch origin. I will definitely book here again.
