Hotel Fundador

Centro Santiago|1.91km from city centre
I arrived at Hotel Fundador around 4:30 pm on 10/28/2022. There was no employee at the entrance for help or guidance. While standing at the counter, filling out the check-in form, I left my belongings beside me on an armchair. When I finished, I verified that ALL had been stolen, a fact attested by the recording made by a security camera that must be intended to monitor what is the property of the hotel, completely disregarding the guests' belongings during admission. What happened was that a passerby came in and took my luggage, without my noticing or having any warning. I was able to return because I had the documents in hand being used to fill in the identification. I couldn't see the footage, it would be necessary to wait for the security company to send it. This is the report of the manager of the day. When we asked for information about the Commissariat or Police Station for registration, not only were we not advised to do so, but only after much insistence did the hotel ask an employee to accompany us. Daily rates were charged for the days we would stay there, but we returned to Rio de Janeiro on the first possible flight, on the 29th, departing at 5:00 am for Rio de Janeiro where we live (we left the hotel at 2:00 am to the airport). The lobby is big, it looks good, I like old hotels, but when we asked if there was a security officer, in fact there wasn't, the door is not closed and there is no concierge. I had already visited Santiago and the experiences were good, never in this hotel whose appearance on the website and ”live”, especially the accommodation, does not match, it is very different, the room presented is unrecognizable. The site is not honest. It was the worst travel experience of my life.

We had very high expectations going into our stay at this hotel, mostly due to the numerous positive reviews. Regrettably our experience doesn’t match those of previous reviewers. To start with the positives, nice balcony with views over the park, comfortable bed and very friendly and helpful Reception staff. - The room was very worn with lots of scuff marks and chunks taken out of the furniture. Definitely needs some refreshing of the furniture. - Showers in both our rooms leaked, with one room even leaking all the way out into the carpet which left a damp smell and wet socks. - Air conditioning did not work for our entire stay which left the room very stuffy. Thankfully we could open the balcony door, but didn’t help at night and woke up numerous times very hot. -Wifi was painfully slow and barely worked. Made working extremely difficult. - Breakfast was not a buffet as advertised. Staff would serve you. You’d get a choice of cereal, some fruit and eggs cooked your way. Choices were very limited and was disappointing when you’re expecting a buffet - Curtains did not completely cover the windows, and a large gap of about 30cm was exposed which lead to light flooding into the room from the park straight onto the bed. Along with a warm room, this made sleep quality very poor. - Whilst not directly the hotels fault, the park across from the hotel is very busy and noisy. All we could hear all day was barking from the dogs in the park till about 8pm at night. You can’t really rest during the day because of this noise. Unfortunately there were far too many issues that would prevent us from recommending this hotel.

I stayed here 7 days total over 3 bookings as I was in and out of Santiago for flights to Rapa Nui, the Atacama and Torres del Paine NP. Each stay was great. Why? Well, first, unlike the original place that I booked when I arrived in Santiago who flat out lied about the quality of their wifi (it barely worked even at their front desk!), this place has wifi that actually works which they proved after I had to call over to them and confirm that it did before I had to get a taxi over. Once there, even though I had only booked 1 hour before, I got upgraded to a huge room for my first 2 nights w/a mini fridge (all rooms have them). All staff was helpful-all of them spoke good English which was helpful as my Spanish is marginal. The breakfast was pretty good overall-lots of options and they had amazing pastries and cakes. Further, as the hotel is set way back there was no street noise. The location is actually great as well-highly convenient-right next to a supermarket and a few restaurants, close to the metro, about a 15 min. walk to Plaza de Armas. The kicker (and why I kept rebooking it after my first stay) is that it is about a 5 min. walk to the end of the line for the ”Centro Aeropuerto” bus line direct to the airport-each way I paid about $2 US to get back and forth to the airport 5 different times in about 30-45 mins. I save a ton of taxi money. Understand that this is not a super modern hotel in an upscale neighborhood like BellaVista but all the amenities were there and overall, the rooms are quite spacious and well designed. In short this was the perfect place for me to get around Santiago and to/from the airport. And the price, when including the breakfast, is a great deal overall. So glad my first hotel didn't end up working out in the end.

Centro Cultural Estacion Mapocho

RQ Santa Magdalena

The best choice with perfect services. RQ Santa Magdalena Hotel was new and very comfortable hotel with so nice interior and exterior. It's so best location near of Mall Costanera Center and CBD. Very beautiful views. Also the hotel rooms with the kitchen, Including all kitchen equipments and accessories. Hotel's front desk was very kindly and warmly. My flight was in the morning early after my staying at the hotel. Front desk (Her name was Catalina) delivered my breakfast to my room previous day. Also she gave me very nice room with excellent views. The window was looking to the Sky Costanera Center, I'm so thankful for the hotel's front desk Catalina and her colleague who was a guy. I want to say them thank you so much again. See you soon in beautiful Santiago de Chile again 🇨🇱💕👍👍
Abba Presidente Suites Santiago

We were in Santiago to meet new relatives who live there. For us, the location of the abba Presidential suites was perfect. We speak little Spanish but their front desk staff is bilingual so there was no problem for us. We were easily accommodated with early check-in for a dollars more, but that included their breakfast buffet which was perfect after the flights in from California. We went to the buffet a few times during our ten days there. They also serve dinner. The room was large, sunny, and very clean. The housekeeping was available daily if we wanted it, and very flexible with timing. The room has a safe, a kitchenette and plenty of sitting area to see friends and relatives, watch TV etc. While they provide an insta pot to boil water, there was no coffee or tea, sugar etc. we could have used a dishtowel and garbage can liners for wet trash. We know for next time. We will definitely be returning.

We stayed here for 3 nights on our visit to Santiago. The hotel seems to be brand new with some of it still under construction and not quite all the way operating yet (huge empty racks for a wine collection, no bar, restaurant not always open). The staff was extremely helpful and spoke English. The room was very nice, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was wonderful with servers and menu choices rather than a buffet. The location seemed a little ify - our first night there we walked many blocks in search of an open restaurant since the hotel restaurant didn't open until 7 and we were hungry. The only thing we could find was a Chinese restaurant on the corner in the midst of all the street vendors. Side note - just down the street there is a fabulous restaurant called Chilenazo but it seemed to only be open for lunch. As mentioned by another reviewer, finding the hotel can be a bit tricky. It's located on the 3rd floor of a building that has stores and a gym on the first two floors and there is no signage. The best entrance is on Romero Street around the corner from the actual address.

I stayed here for a couple nights and the hotel is in very good shape, everything still smells new. The location isn't really good, there's literally nothing around, you will need an Uber to go anywhere. Never take a taxi in Chile!!! They will totally rip you off. Front desk people isn't friendly or welcoming at all but I think that's everywhere in Chile.

My husband and I stayed in an executive room for 5 nights in January-February 2020 while holidaying around South America. Positives: - a massive fresh, clean and modern room with nice views - good breakfast buffet - good wifi - friendly staff, except for the breakfast staff who were a bit aloof. - within walking distance to the metro station. We Ubered a lot, and this worked fine. (Taxi drivers, however, struggled, to locate the hotel for some reason.) - a nice cocktail bar on the rooftop. Negatives: - we had repeated issues with lack of hot water in the shower. Not acceptable. - we had to ask four times to get our laundry picked up. - no room service for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We were travelling for 3 months and sometimes you're just too tired to venture out for food. Had this been a business trip, I'd had been absolutely appalled as I tend to have room service dinner so as to get a moment's rest and solitude. Simply inexcusable not to provide this service. - music from the cocktail bar carried into our room one night, necessitating earplugs (we were on the highest floor). - the cocktail bar is, understandably, very popular with locals. While I fully support the hotel also providing a space for locals, there should have been some tables (as well as sun loungers during the day) exclusively reserved for paying hotel guests, because it was quite difficult to grab a spot in the relatively small area both during the day and evening. (The hotel appeared to sell daytime pool passes to non-guests.) - about to check out, we called the concierge to ask someone to help us and come pick up our luggage. To our surprise, they informed us that this service was not provided (?!) and that they'd had to ask for permission from someone higher up to send someone to help us. I thought it was a joke at first, it sounded so absurd. When we checked in, there was a bellboy who automatically took all our luggage so making a big show about providing this when checking out was just very odd. All in all, however, a solid four-star hotel.
