Third time staying at this wonderful B&B! Very convenient to all of Canandaigua's restaurants and shops. The rooms are very comfortable, and the breakfast has been very tasty and filling each time. Adele is a wonderful hostess who makes sure that her guest's needs are met without being intrusive. The pre-check in recommendation that you have a dinner reservation if you want to dine out is well worth heeding!

We stayed at the Inn during a time of personal loss, which brought us to the area. It would be difficult to say how very gracious and kind Adele, the innkeeper was to us. The rooms are beautiful and immaculate: decorated perfectly to suit the original history but with very nice touches that are modern. Comfy robes are provided along with snacks and chocolates, along with special homemade treats in the evening. The breakfasts are mouthwatering and served in a thoughtful and elegant manner. Adele went out of her way to accommodate us and made a very difficult weekend much, much nicer. I highly recommend the Inn to anyone who wants to stay in a lovely place that has many amenities and truly delectable food, along with a gracious and helpful Innkeeper. We will be back!

Adele and Megan took excellent care of us on a recent winter weekend. The Inn is well-located, a short walk into downtown Canandaigua, and the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed.Breakfast was thoughtful and delicious, with a range of snacks available the rest of the day. We'll be back!

My husband and I have stayed here 5 times so far. We usually stay in the Gifford room and find the accommodations very warm, inviting and spacious, not to mention quiet and comfortable! We enjoy coming here in the fall. Adele and Megan are both attentive and helpful. Due to recent food allergies that my husband developed he has to be gluten free which can present challenges when dining out. Adele nailed it with her breakfasts! We really enjoyed the Mexican restaurant in town and Nicks Chophouse for a night cap! We especially love that all is within walking distance. Got to experience some pretty fall views and Halloween decorations. Some of the houses go all out with lights! Really fun to see walking back after dinner!! Thank you Adele and Megan we look forward to coming back next year!

My wife and I stayed here in mid-September for a weekend as we were going to a wedding in the area. Inn is quaint and rooms were attractive/clean/and complete. As many have said in prior reviews, breakfasts were a real treat. But I would not stay here again. We had the Gifford Room for two nights ($335 plus $45 taxes per night) and this faced the street which is a main thorough fare in the town (Route 332). This is a well trafficked route by both cars and trucks and you clearly hear the noise in the room. In fact, windows would rattle as some of the trucks passed by throughout the day and night. Unfortunately, a family member had a similar experience as she had stayed in the Hubbell Room. If you do stay here, and like most Inns, be prepared to take you own bags to the upstairs floors. (The fact that there was no hot water the morning we departed had no bearing on this overall review. This can happen anytime, anywhere).

We love the 1840 Inn on the Main B&B in Canandaigua. The accommodations are lovely, comfortable, clean and quiet. Innkeeper Adele is wonderful! She is warm and friendly and makes you feel like you are visiting a long-time friend. Her breakfasts are delicious and she will gladly accommodate special dietary needs. We have stayed here several times and look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had the most wonderful stay at the 1840 Inn on Main. The inn is pristine and so charming with lush gardens, beautifully decorated rooms, and luxury linens. Adele, the innkeeper, is so warm and friendly, and she is a master chef. She made the best breakfasts we’ve ever had in all of our travels. Adele also graciously accommodated my wife’s gluten allergy with every breakfast course - making a gluten free version specifically for her - incredible! The Inn is just a short drive from the local shops and restaurants. When we come back to Canandaigua, we will absolutely be staying here again.

My wife and I recently visited the Finger Lakes region and our accomodations were at 1840 Inn on the Main B & B. We can't say enough good things about this great place. Conveniently located in Canandaigua with easy access to all there is to do here. A beautiful Victorian mansion, very well maintained and beautifully appointed. Our host Adele and her staff provided exceptional service and the breakfast was first class. In our opinion there is no better B & B in this region. We don't hesitate to recommend it to all.

My wife and I needed to get away to recharge the batteries and the Finger Lakes is a half day drive for us. We stayed at 1840 Inn on the Main for six nights and we greatly enjoyed the stay. The breakfasts were outstanding as was the company (host and other guests) and the location enabled us to travel to 4 of the finger lakes to enjoy the restaurants, wineries, shops and nature. Our host, besides being an excellent chef, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area which helped us in our daily travels. Our room was comfortable and provided us space to relax after a day of touring. Highly recommend the inn for those wanting to relax while being close to many activities.
