Complexul Turistic Cheile Butii

The cottage is being rebuilt after a recent fire. The project looks spectacular, but I did not expect the restaurant to be perfectly functional. Basically, it's the most decent restaurant in the area - industrial design, spacious, homey and elegant at the same time. The terrace is shady, pleasant, and the toilets are clean, well equipped. It seems hard to believe that it is a restaurant located at the foot of the Retezat Mountains, far from urban civilization. The food is good, regional cuisine with a modern touch. I ordered Saramura de Pastrav (grilled trout in a savory sauce), which was delicious. The wine was also good. No complaints about the service - it was fast and efficient, although the terrace was full.

It deserves a star for the location, otherwise the food leaves much to be desired, as does the service. The soups were acceptable, but with a canteen taste, a kind of "menu of the day from the seaside". The chicken with mushrooms and cream was inedible, the chicken tasted like rubber, and the mushroom sauce tasted like flour and water, the slightly cooked polenta was very raw, a kind of "al dente". The duck was disgusting, the cabbage was barely edible. We didn't order dessert for fear of getting sick. I won't go into details about the service because it's the same as the food. I do not recommend.
