Something has gone SERIOUSLY wrong in this hotel. We stayed there with some friends that had stayed there 10 years ago and were very enthusiastic about returning. But then....OMG. :-( First, the majority of "official" pictures here on Trip Advisor are either from years ago or a different hotel (the rooms in particular). The entire facility is severely run down: weeds overgrowing the walkways, EVERYTHING in need of some new paint, etc. It looks as though it had been abandoned for some time and then just recently reopened without any maintenance or renovation. But the service really takes the cake. If I had to guess, I would say the people in the kitchen have never worked in a commercial kitchen before. I was embarrassed for them. In all of my years as a road warrior, I have never seen such a disaster. Horrible food, several dishes literally inedible, half the people at the table don't get half the dishes, etc. And when we pointed this out to the "manager", he didn't really seem to care. Everyone else across the dining room was having similar issues. For breakfast, no one cleans the tables or refills the buffet. So when we arrived at about 08.30, there wasn't much left to eat and the entire dining room was filled with dirty dishes and tables. I could go on and on, but it's really just not worth it. Instead, I will close with the highlight of the trip.....on our last evening, the person responsible for the kitchen (I will not degrade the culinary industry by calling him a chef) apparently cut part of his finger off. An ambulance came to pick him up, and he returned later with 7 stitches. I can only hope none of his pieces ended up in the food. The ambulance crew seemed pretty focused on him potentially having consumed some "substances", but he denied this. And when our group contacted the owner of the hotel to share our overall displeasure, we learned he is actually in Milan, not Elba, and does not seem to be aware of any of the issues. His response, loosely translated,...."well. it's hard to find staff these days." So a suggestion to you, dear Owner.....you can't manage a hotel from 500KM away. Go to Elba and see what is happening there. This place is LITERALLY a disaster. If this were the last hotel on earth, i wouldn't send my worst enemy there.

I would like to point out that I have not stayed in the hotel and therefore I cannot evaluate the services and rooms. But I had a very bad experience following a withdrawal due to a serious health problem. I was promised that we could recover as long as ... (and it's better if I omit to say what the deal was ...), but then when it was time to recover I was only given the availability of the most expensive room in the hotel , when other rooms were available in all portals and we weren't even in high season.

You book a 4 star and find yourself in a poor 2 star. Unspeakable and inedible food, apart from the buffet which is repeated all week. Inattentive and unhelpful staff, interminable waiting times for breakfast and dinner. (30 min for a latte macchiato) Furthermore, one evening we had dinner out (to eat a little decently) by notifying 2 days beforehand, and they still made us pay for dinner. We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights half board, 1 standard room, I, my partner and my 7 year old son, instead of being happy and contented to spend a week of relaxation and much desired holidays as soon as we crossed the door of the hotel we thought we were involved in a joke and not in reality... first of all, to get to the hotel a beautiful rough and steep road awaits you... we thought "where have we ended up", but the best was yet to come... upon entering the room we were very disappointed as the photos seen they absolutely do not represent reality, everything was dated, old, the tub was rusty and was leaking water, flooding the bathroom every time... poor food, they often delivered the meals to us, tasteless, unseasoned and cold... or they even forgot the side dishes and they also arrived either badly cooked or cold. the desserts were often brought to us frozen inside... the hotel is dark there are few lights or they turn them on close to dinner same music same routine it seemed like a joke... the hotel outside is well kept and nice to look at but everything else is a big NO! The air you breathe is heavy, it smells like old moldy stuff... We were very upset because this money was the sacrifice of 1 year of work, spending 1 week like this was bad, we couldn't wait to go home... it's not a 4 stars sorry.

Dated furniture and uncomfortable double bed, the photos do not reflect reality. 10 minutes from Portoferraio so inconvenient to get to the sea. I stayed here with my daughter and a friend from 14th to 19th August 2023 left room on 20th morning. As soon as they arrived they did not find the reservation for 3 people but for two, the room assigned did not correspond to the one booked and according to them the fallback room was a Superior and not a Standard. I enter the room and realize that instead of a bed there was a sofa bed and a double bed with a non-existent mattress. Room change was not possible, the sofa bed was changed with a bed and a topper added in the double room. The photos of the rooms on the site do not correspond to the real ones. It doesn't end here as I realize that my Apple Whatch was no longer present in the room and had been stolen without my knowledge. Yesterday by email they informed me that they do not have a policy that covers room thefts. I travel a lot and I've never had a room theft happen in my life!!! Don't stay here overnight.
