We had seen some really poor reviews of this hotel so we were wondering what to expect! The approach to the hotel does not raise any great expectations and on arriving at the front entrance it is obvious that the hotel is not situated in a very salubrious area. Greeting at reception however was friendly and efficient. We found that the restaurant was closed for the weekend we were staying due to staffing issues. Not a great start. However we were given some good suggestions on where to have dinner. The room was small, the bed comfortable, but the bathroom was one of the smallest we have seen in a hotel in this country. Certainly not room enough to sit on the toilet and close the door. However not a disaster as some have suggested but something to work around and get on with life! Breakfast is provided as standard and is quite sufficient, obviously not to 5* standards but nothing to moan about. Car parking is free. Outside the hotel is not a very nice area, but Campbell River on the whole looks a fairly run down place.
