The pictures on the site do not represent our experience. We were put in the “Florence” room featuring walls painted a hideous avocado green, very worn out rugs, and old books everywhere as “decorations’. The AC on the wall was broken as well as the ceiling light. The window AC was difficult to work; we asked for someone to fix it but no one ever came. Out of 4 days, our room was made up only twice. The room is on the first floor facing a busy road with noise particularly in the am. To enter the , hotel, you walk up what was once probably a driveway. Now to keep cars from entering, there are 4 very large pots colored bright blue and filled with dead flowers. There is outside dining, but the patio area is uneven so the tables are tiled. On the bright side, there is free parking and the breakfast, free for guests, is very good.

After staying at the Hartstone Inn, I am now thoroughly convinced that Trip Advisor reviews are either paid endorsements or that people have a very low standard. The Hartstone Inn is quite simply a dump. The Inn is outdated, dirty, dark, and in need of major renovations. The carpeting in the hallways is stained and dirty. The room was also in need of deep cleaning. I could go on and point out the endless issues with the Inn, but suffice to say, we thought about checking out 5 minutes after checking in, but it was late in the day and we weren't sure if we could find alternative lodging. I would never stay here again. Simply Awful!

A great spur of the moment escape as we travelled down the coast of Maine and decided to extend our stay in Camden. Wonderful hospitality from moment we stepped in this European inspired oasis till we departed. Concierge level service from the Inn’s sommelier, architecturally interesting, small but punching above its weight class cocktails, wine and beer… bar inside… and the breakfast offered a range of options… would definitely stay there again.

We spent 5 nights here over 4th of July weekend & absolutely loved it. Our room - Paris - was beautiful & the bed so comfortable. The rest of the house was beautiful as well. Everyone was so friendly. Breakfast & dinner very good. Would come here again!

We have been coming here for more than ten years. Our past experiences have been fantastic! However, after arriving, we noticed that the Inn had changed! First the breakfast was average at best! The pancakes were over cooked, asked for cranberry juice and they served us orange juice. We use to get sugar cubes with our coffee but now they give you packets that you can get at Dunkin Doughnuts! Worse yet, a dinner use to be included in the (expensive) packages but is no longer included. We did not mind that the stay was expensive because the experience was totally worth the money! This Inn is still very expensive with fewer amenities. After coming here for so many years, this will be our LAST time! It is a real shame! We use to look forward to spending our anniversary here!

Charming Inn with great location and very kind staff. I have to agree w some other reviews that attention to detail was not there, perhaps staffing shortage. We paid for a suite with a fireplace and were super disappointed to learn that it didnt work.. the mgmt was so kind and compensated us a bit for that inconvenience. The cottage room was immaculate and cozy. The bed was very comfortable. The one thing Id make future travelers aware of is in this suite there are several stepdowns within it. Also the shower/tub combo was a bit tricky to get in and out of so might be difficult for those with limited mobility. My one suggestion for the Inn would be for coffee pot in rooms that are not inside the inn, as we had to put coats on to go outside and around to get morning coffee. The breakfast was ok, nothing special and starts at 8, which is difficult for us early risers. We were also disappointed to hear lunch and dinner were not available during our stay as we heard wonderful things about the food. Would have been nice to have known about the restaurant dates and fireplace out of order before we arrived. Otherwise was a comfortable room with great staff.

Room needs updating. The slanted floor in the bathroom should be repaired. Breakfast service was courteous but very slow and the food was mediocre.
