Travelodge Cambridge Swavesey

There was an issue with my booking plus the receptionist was training someone so made me wait out side alone at 11.40pm in a horrible place. She was rude (the colleague she was training was pleasant and thoughtful) Passed my complaint through to customer services who are not interested.

Up to normal standards for Travelodge except for lack of dining facilities which would have improved our stay considerably.

Hotel was recently refurbished very nice and clean and staff are brilliant Kian the hotel manager was very nice I know him from Cambridge central, stayed there previously, it was a pleasure to be there. Nice American diner across the way. Thanks Kian, good to see you.

Nice little hotel, hard to find though as at the back of a disused petrol station, although if you follow the signs for Herbies an American diner that shares the site with the hotel you will come into the car park. Rooms are spacious we had a family room £78 one double and two small put you ups, which was ample for our needs, Shower over the bath, clean and serviceable. All the team members were approachable and seemed genuinely happy and willing to help. Not a lot of road noise at night but could hear the lorries the next morning- not really a big deal as you would expect this from this location.

We stayed in a family room on the ground floor. The room was great, nice and big, one double bed, two single beds and an armchair and TV. It was a bit warm in there though and there is no aircon. They do however provide a fan. The double bed was nice and soft, the single beds were a bit hard though, but they were all reasonably comfortable. The pillows were very firm though, and all exactly the same, including the spares on top of the wardrobe. They could do with a bit of variety as I found them very difficult to sleep on. I ended up with a sore neck and ear, and eventually had to resort to pulling my quilt around and folding it over as a pillow. The hotel is also a bit difficult to find in the dark, it could do with some better and more reflective signage. We completely missed it on the first pass.

Very poor example of Travelodge hotel, very poor housekeeping as room was not cleaned properly, toe nail clippings on floor, spider webs in various places in room, shelves very dusty, towels never changed.

We stayed a few nights here- it's perfect for Duxford and National Trust properties - great country pubs in the area. And really pleasent staff. Ask to stay in the back - views over the countryside are amazingand no noise. This is on a busy road but we heard none of it!!

The hotel and all their staff were great. We were two OAP’s and everyone was so accommodating and the beds were so so comfortable

A bit like Death and Taxes, I though you could always be sure of a good mattress and a great shower at all Travelodges. However, the shower at this 'New' format Travelodge was incredibly weak - very very disappointing. Also, the 'New' format means they have done away with the shelves/storages that are normally present near the entrance to the room. The only storage space now is the 'desk' area and two tiny bedside cubby holes. I wont be staying at this particular Travelodge if I can help it - ever again.
