Fantastic location, fabulous views from the beautiful garden and pool, however the best thing was the friendliness of the staff who were also really helpful when we were lost and needed a taxi. The food was also great too.

Quinta Alegre is absolutely what we were looking for. We based ourselves here for our walking holiday. Reception staff were very welcoming and I instantly felt relaxed upon arrival in this little piece of paradise. Our spacious, sea view room was bright, fresh and very clean. Website photos don’t show the new cream coloured curtains and bedspreads yet which are lovely. As well as having a sea view rooms also overlook the most beautifully kept garden and pool. Side rooms without sea view have lovely views of the garden. Shower had lots of power and there was hot water at all times. At dinner you can opt for the set 3 course menu or choose from the a la carte. Food was outstanding and made freshly everyday with local produce. Jams and preserves all made in hotel’s kitchen. Some vegetables and herbs were from the hotel’s own vegetable garden. The hotel guests are mainly walkers and people who enjoy nature and the outdoors. Exchanging walks and tips with fellow guests was very enjoyable in the evenings. We opted for 2 organised walking tours offered by the hotel. Both guides were friendly, knowledgeable and multilingual and we learned so much about the flora and fauna as well as the island in general. When walking independently Levada Nova is a 45 minute walk uphill from hotel. Lastly the amazing staff make this hotel so special who work hard to ensure all their guests have a wonderful holiday. So well done to everyone, it is very much appreciated. Quinta Alegre surpassed my expectations in every way and we can’t wait to return.

This place is a garden of Eden, it is Paradise. From the moment we arrived, we lowered our shoulders, took a deep breath - and relaxed. For once it actually is like the pictures! This is a small hotel, with only ca. 20 rooms, and not 200! Quite and mostly hikers! Everything is very clean: the room, the towel, the linen, the restaurant, the terrasse and the pool, which is cleaned and checked every morning at sunrise. The bed was very comfortable, the madras very good for my back. The room was spacious and nice furnished, with a beautiful view and with mosquito netting, so we had the window always open. The food is delicious: the breakfast with daily variation of different bread (full-grain! ), fruits, eggs, dishes..... and homemade marmalade! We enjoyed the 3 course dinner menue, where we could choose between fish, meat or vegetarian everyday, and we were never disappointed, it was delicious. And the most of the food is from their own organic garden, which we were generously guided through by the owner. The whole sustainability concept is amazing, in every detail! The solar power, the sewer systems of recycling for the garden, even the lunchpackage is reusable bottles and cans! For hiking it is the best option on Madeira. The staff is very friendly, helpful and doing everything they can for you. The location is perfect. The best is the atmosphere and the garden, we woke up to birds singing, breakfast under banana tree in the sunrise, the tranquility of the garden, swimming in the pool and dinner in the sunset in the garden.

Urlaub im Paradies! Wir können das kleine feine Juwel Quinta Alegra auf Madeira einfach nur weiter weiterempfehlen und haben uns jederzeit rundum wohl gefühlt. Uns wurde jeder Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen da wirklich jeder Mitarbeiter des Hauses sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit ist. Der herrliche Garten und die schöne Terrasse laden zum gemütlichen entspannen ein und man kann wunderbar relaxen Die ruhige Atmosphäre und die angenehmen Mit-Gäste machen den Urlaub perfekt Das tolle Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr abwechslungsreich mit frisch gepressten Säften und vielen verschiedenen offenen Tee-Sorten, Obst, Quiches, Kuchen, Schinken, Käse, Antipasti Eierspeisen,... Wir reisen sehr viel und waren schon auf der ganzen Welt unterwegs und normalerweise fahren wir immer an neue Reiseziele aber hier haben wir unseren Sehnsuchtsort gefunden und kommen nächstes Jahr wieder zurück. Die wunderschöne Landschaft und Aussicht haben uns verzaubert. Das Quinta Alegre Hotel ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt um mit dem Leihwagen die ganze Insel problemlos zu erkunden. Die herrlichen Levada-Wanderungen auf Madeira sind für jedes Fitness-Level gut machbar und es bieten sich immer wieder wunderschöne Blicke in die saftig grünen Täler und aufs Meer. Madeira und das tolle Hotel haben uns einfach verzaubert - jederzeit eine Reise wert, ihr werdet es einfach genießen!!!

Wir waren über die Weihnachtstage und dem Jahreswechsel dort und gut im Hotel Quinta Alegre untergebracht. Wir hatten bei einem Veranstalter für Gruppen- und Aktivreisen gebucht und es hat sich wieder gelohnt. Unser Zimmer mit Meerblick konnten wir auf Wunsch und Möglichkeit tauschen und die Verpflegung (HP) war abwechslungsreich und gut. Der Besitzer und der Manager hatten stets ein offenes Ohr für Wünsche.

Wir können die Quinta Alegra zu 100% empfehlen. Wir haben dort eine Woche verbracht und 5 Wanderungen mit sehr ortskundigen Wanderführer*innen machen dürfen. Die abendlichen, vegetarischen Menüs sowie die große Auswahl beim Frühstücksbüffet haben uns kulinarisch überzeugt. Der gepflegte Garten mit Meerblick und dem Pool ist ein weiteres Highlight. Wir möchten dem gesamten Team für die Gastfreundschaft danken und kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Jeder Zeit gerne wieder! Ich war 3 Wochen dort, ich habe mich ab dem 1. Tag wohl gefühlt und das ist bis zum letzten Tag so geblieben. Sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Vom Hotel aus konnte man Ausflüge oder Wanderungen buchen! Ausserdem hat mir sehr gut gefallen, dass auf Plastikverpackungen verzichtet wird! Auch beim Lunchpaket! Solaranlage etc. kann man alles auf der Webseite des Hotels nachlesen.

Tolle Lage und Blick, schöne Zimmer und Garten, leckeres Essen (teilweise aus dem eigenen Garten), tolles nachhaltiges, plastikfreies Konzept (die Tuberware für das Lunchpaket konnte man abends wieder abgeben. Man kann sich Elektronautos ausleihen). Das einzige, was gefehlt hat, war eine Trockenmöglichkeit für die Badesachen.
