Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend
I had a poor experience during my stay at Best Western in Calgary. Upon check-in, the front desk staff appeared visibly tired and disinterested. She was unhelpful when I asked questions and seemed more focused on rushing through the process than assisting guests.
Prior to arrival, I received an email from the hotel stating that I could redeem a gift card at check-in. However, the front desk refused to apply it, claiming it was only valid for bookings made through their website—despite no such condition being mentioned in the email.
Additionally, I had placed a “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door, yet housekeeping entered the room and cleaned it anyway, which was an unwelcome surprise and a violation of privacy.
The bathroom amenities were also disappointing. The shampoo and other toiletries were provided in very small tubes that were difficult to use.
I requested a late check-out, just one extra hour, and was surprised to be asked to pay an additional $50. A bit more flexibility in such situations would leave a better impression.
Overall, I do not recommend this hotel. The service, communication, and attention to guest comfort were well below expectations.
